Hello to the BITOG community.

I got a great deal on this oil . It is advertised as suitable for mixed fleets.

I wonder if it is suitable for use in my motorcycle (Vstrom 1000) as it is also sited as low friction. From your experience, will it cause clutch slippage?

A shared sump motorcycle oil ideally has no friction modifiers. If it says low friction it likely has friction modifiers but there are members on here who have ran regular gas and diesel oil that doesn't say Jaso MA which contain FM yet didn't experience any clutch slippage. In harder driving that could make the clutch slip these oils might cause that. Give it a try and drive it like how you normally first and if it shifts like normal drive it a little harder. If it feels like there's any slippage drive it back softly and drain it and use something else. If no slippage when driven normally or harder than normal it's fine to use. A little bit of slip won't hurt anything.

Always recommend sticking w/MC oil w/shared sump for the reasons @JavierH19 mentioned. I was one of those folks that thought "no difference", b/c I didn't know any better, but came to realize that when both my wife & I would ride together the clutch would slip pretty badly. We were not balloons either at the time, I was 135 lbs & she was 140, neither was it some delapatated bike mind you, it was a 2004 Vulcan Nomad 1500 w/about 4k miles on it. Made a believer out of me, I wasn't against it but just didn't realize there needed to be a different oil for that application. If that is not the case w/your cycle then it should be no problem. Never heard of that oil.

Old school mixed-fleet HDEO,still widely available in Europe . Judging by other users' experience with such oils this one should be fine.

Example: Nobody would use a ATF or Rear axle oil in the engine of a Car. Right?
So, why are people obsessed with Diesel Truck oils in Motorcycles? I really dont get it.
Because it's always cheaper than dedicated motorcycle oils.
Then to rationalize their choice, they say;
"It works great, I don't have any oil related issues."

Shared sump definitely use a motorcycle oil designed for a shared sump. When did you ever hear a manufacturer recommend putting diesel oil in a trans?
Never, but most Motorcycles in the USA get a Rotella diet, it seems to me. Because somebody told it is a great oil and good to use.
The Power wich Internet forums and the things written in them have is remarkable.

Most motorcycles in America DO NOT get a "Rotella diet" despite wishful thinking and myth.
It's because the owners are cheap and built up a fake aura of magic around Rotella to justify being cheap.
