You know, it's possible and I've seen it before.

It's just that you see an apparent "successful" enterprise. For something that can't possibly be sustained by market penetration, it's hard to imagine a thriving business.

Anyone would normally starve at something like this. Yet these oddball outfits endure.

Either illegal money laundering or playing funny money with hiding wealth ..aka legal taxation avoidance. There just aren't too many reasons for companies like this to exist.

Well, I finally made contact with the owner of Guardian Oil. Here is the email exchange we had. The comments in red are his comments to my questions.

Mr. Wolfram,

A couple of questions that come to mind real quick would be:

1. How long has Guardian Lubricants been in business? Guardian started to develop this product in the fall of 1999. It has been refined and reformulated several times, and 2 years ago, we dumped everything we had ever tried and started the company from scratch again. It was a good move.
2. What makes your product not compatible with synthetic oils? Part of it is the additives, and part of it is proprietary techniques. Our oil causes synthetics (PAO) to bond together because we induce a polar electrical charge on the petroleum molecule. This is something petroleum engineers say cannot be done. And scientists say a bumble bee should not be able to fly. I figure it must have something to do with the additive package you use because the description of the oil sounds like it is either a Group II, II+ or Group III base stocked product. This is a 99.97% group three base.

Johnny, I don't disclose enough over email to be a danger to the company. The chinese and Shell, and Pemex, and several others have tried to crack our formula, but they have not been able to do so. So, no worries.

May be more than you want to disclose over an email but it's a starting point. Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

Johnny P

Ask him if he wants to face our scrutiny in a live forum or chat on this site. If he passes the test, he could be the next poster child on here..

Seriously? This guy acts like he is Tony Stark and invented a power generator technology (arc reactor) that no one else can duplicate. Sound more like science fiction to me. How can he convince me that BP, Shell, or Exxon Mobil with their near infinite financial resources can't refine oil as well as his company can? I'm not sold on this comment.

Stale post. I'm late to this party, but wow, you guys are harsh.

Full Disclosure - I went out of my way to buy German Castrol for my C5.... back when it was still green

I like to experiment. I've messed around with Slick 50 (caused seals to leak but increased my fuel mileage without other problems), Auto Rx (no substantial changes noticed when used) and Lube Control (never bothered with UOA to see how well it works).

I met Dan; I know Dan. He sells the oil by the quart and gallon if you're interested. The bottles, as you noticed, are food oil bottles he got in bulk so he could sell it to shade tree mechanics such as myself. He makes his money doing mobile oil changes.

I put it in my wife's Sooby. Mileage initially increased from 23.5 to 26 mpg for about 4000 miles and then settled down to 25 mpg, mixed city and highway driving including multiple trips into the mountains fully loaded with two 60 lb dogs. So, initial mileage increase was 2.5 mpg, or over 10% increase. Was previously running a semi-synthetic prior to the oil change.

Just sent the sample in two days ago for the UOA on @ 13,000 miles with filter changes and top-offs @ 5000 miles and 10000 miles. I didn't stretch it to 15000 mi before the oil change because I hate pushing it that far without data.... and I was going against Dan's advice (he advocates the two-step (two-change) process).

Along with the increase in fuel mileage I saw a substantial decrease in oil consumption.

I'll hold judgment until I get the UOA back.

I'll share the UOA if anybody is interested and doesn't flame me and my numbers.

Cheers!

Would LOVE to see that UOA!

Please, please post - and no, I'm not looking for something to 'make fun of' - I'd love us to have a new product to honestly evaluate....

Seconded.

I have been using a miracle fluid for a number of years.

It is called Dihydrogen Monoxide. It is a powerful cleaning solvent when mixed with certain chemicals or electrolytes. I've used it on my car frequently. You can also rub it into your skin and it is not in small amounts toxic to humans. I have to admit in large amounts though, ingesting it can be harmful or fatal.

I am wondering though, where I can get this stuff relatively cheaply. Anyone know? Rumors are out there that say you can get it for free.

be careful, dihydgrogen monoxide kills more people every year than any other chemical.

BTW, have @ 900 miles on the second change and the fuel mileage is 25.8 mpg and we've had a number of cold mornings/days here lately. I'll post the UOA when I get it.
