Just wondering what the design is like.
I'm thinking a pull-up spout similar to what I've had with some Delvac jugs.
Wondering how well it works and whether there are any downsides.
Open top with a funnel works for me, but if this design really is easier to use and doesn't require a funnel, then Valvoline may be onto something.

I still used a funnel but the design of the jug is really good. There are holds and notches in place if you have to lean way forward. A lot of planning went into this design.

I also like the clear lock cap with the foil seal underneath. You can instantly tell that the jug is sealed before buying.

+1

I didn't find the old jugs difficult. I dislike the new jugs because they can't be carried upright (when open, etc). Change for the sake of change.

Yep. I keep an empty jug or two around the farm to use to fill bulk oil. I buy Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic for my Marauder, (in the new fancy jugs) but I have about 10 gallons of Valvoline Synthetic in “bulk”. (5 gallon pail with a bucket pump). The new Valvoline jugs make it easy to measure out oil and pour it. Pretty handy, seals well and isn’t messy.

I just showed my nephiew my trick with all old jugs. You pour with the opening at the top instead of the bottom. Most put a handle on the side so the open top is at the bottom but when you first start pouring the jug is at a steep angle and it will likely run down the bottom edge and drip off tye back.

Flip it oupver so the spout is the highest point so when it first starts comingout the jug is about 90 degrees with ground and no spilling.

Been working for 20+ years with penzoil quarts and gallons

Remember, Valvoline is doing a promo thru the end of September.
If you're not happy with the new bottle design, they will refund the entire cost of a 5 qt jug.
Ironically, I got this faster the the 2x Mobil 1 spring rebate that I submitted 8 weeks ago and have heard nothing!

I used one and thought it worked great. My 4.7 has somewhat of a funnel built in and I poured the jug right into it.

Much more tamper proof IMO.

I still used a funnel but I really liked the new design. No glugging and you can moderate the pour speed better.

Nice tamper deterrent feature but i find them top heavy. Nothing major, just a pet peeve.

Yes, per my previous comment, I received my $21.97 refund more quickly than the two rebates I'm waiting on from Mobil 1.

My beef with the new design is that I can't turn the spout and get the same anti-glug effect.

I like the new Valvoline 5 qt containers pretty well. I still use a Ray Charles funnel just to keep from making any mess. I have a black cover sheild over the motor so it makes it fun trying to pour in without a funnel.

I got this VWB for $10 today from AZ... I'm good with that.

The handle is placed low on the bottle, making it top heavy.
When the inlet for the oil on the engine is at an angle (and surrounded by other stuff),
U kind of have to pour from very high up and hope u make it in the funnel (a gust of wind will make the oil fly when pouring from that high)
The tiny little spout on the bottle no longer allows the oil to be poured at different angles

I do like the tamper seals. Its very easy to tell if its been opened
Theyre ok. But i think they could have done better
I also got the $21.97 back already hahaha
I used the jug in my lady’s jeep.
Good product but the bottle could be better IMHO

I guess you scored free oil from Valvoline then. Posting “haha” says a lot.
