My friend has a 95 BMW 525i with 160,000 miles.. with a few small oil leaks.

He uses Supertech synthetic 10w30, I'm telling him in that car..specially with that mileage he needs a 0w40 or 5w40 high mileage oil... it's the viscosity that BMW recommends and it might help stop or slow down the leaks, but I don't know of any 0/5w40 high mileage oil, ...help?

I don't know of any 'HM' oil in 0w40 grade...but there might be some with further investagation.

I use Valvoline MaxLife SYN 5w30...and I think it comes in a 10w30 as well. MaxLife has been noted for stoping small leaks.

Nice oil. In the winter, it was as quiet and leaked as little as 15w40 HD did in the summer in my Ford 300 that was nearly toast. It's rebuilt now, but I was very impressed with MaxLife.

What about Rotella T syn 5W-40?

If he's in Florida, he can use 10w40. At those temps there's virtually no difference in viscosity between 5w40 and 10w40. In fact, M1 10w40 and 5w40 have almost the same visc at 40C

I've been using M1 10w40 HM and believe it's one of the best sleeper oils on the market. Both of my Passats and all the BMWs I service have been using it with good results.

Cheap too...

I have never seen a 0W40 or 5W40 High Mileage oil, I would say give Mobil 1 10W40 a try
