My wife bought this car a few years ago and rarely drives it. It left her stranded on the side of the road once due to failed coil, and since then has not trusted it. However, I found that I love driving this little beast. It is very quick, low to the ground and sporty to drive.

But it was used and I think its been marginally taken care of. I changed the DCT fluid last year and, coils, filters etc. But its got some persistent oil leaks. I cleaned the engine last fall to try to spot the actual leaks, but could not see anything as we stopped driving it for the winter and it doesn't leak when parked.

It has approximately 130k miles, and I believe it requires the VW 504 5W-40 Euro Spec oil. I've been feeding it Rotella T6 to clean up anything in the engine. but in the 3 years we've owned it, I've only done 3 oil changes. We put less that 3000 miles on the car in total. This car is also one of the models that has massive carbon build-up on the intake as well as sensitive timing chain/guides as far as I know.

The point of all that rambling is this question: Can I use an oil that slows oil leaks (like a high mileage oil) and clean up the engine? Is there anything that could help the intake valves? Would the God-like VRP be the cure to all my woes? I appreciate all the advice in advance. I'm not a VW guy so any general advice is also appreciated.

504/507 will only be a 30 grade. (ex, Shell Euro L or LX, M1 ESP 5w30/0w30)
511 is similar to the above but is available in 40 grade only.
Either of the above would reduce the rate of intake valve deposits but unfortunately the design of the PCV system is the primary contributor to the amount of deposits.

As for your oil leaks some people have had success with LiquiMoly Motor Oil Saver or similar product. It contains an ester to help swell seals.

Valvoline R&P should clean up interior deposits. Be warned though that it might cause more leaks. I wouldn't use it unless you're burning oil.

Any VW504.00 will be better than Rotella or VRP.
Get Mobil1 ESP 0W30 in Wal Mart and call it a day.

Why would you do that? As noted above, get the correct oil at Walmart for about $28.

I believe this takes the VW502 which would be the typical Euro 40 grades available about anywhere. Can use a Euro 504 as well, those are 30 grades so a bit of a mix-up in your post. Rotella is not worth using here, it's not as good of an oil as any of the commonly available oils with the 502 approval, it's not cleaning up anything. There is nothing really you can do to clean intake valve deposits beyond physically removing it (walnut blast for example). Unless you are having signs of intake valve deposits (cold start misfires for example) it's likely fine. If there are no issues, there is no reason to really do anything beyond stop using Rotella and get on a proper Euro gas oil for the car and drive it.

I run Shell ultra helix Ect 0w-30 (penzoil euro LX in the states) in my TFSI and works just fine, no blue smoke or consumption. Leaks tho but it’s from the oil filter housing which is common.

Thanks guys! I'm here at work and frequently get the VW5XX numbers confused in my head. Thanks for clarifying and correcting my mistake.

Good to know on the Rotella. I've been using it for the "cleaning" properties of the HDEO, but that's moot if a Euro oil is better. Back in my day (read this in an old geezer voice) a good HDEO was the best way to clean up a dirty engine!

No issues starting and running. I think it runs very smooth actually. TiGeo - I'll do that. I very much look forward to spring when I can take this thing out and run it on the backroads.

If you want to run something heavier Mobil1 ESP 0W4 X4 is good option.
