Im thinking about using Mobil 1 EP in my sisters 1993 Crown vic (351W). The oil has always been valvoline 10w30 and changed at 2,000 miles. Im hoping to push the oil change to 5,000 miles so I can save some time and possibly some money. Anybody have any expereince with the 351 and extended change intervals I did a search but came up with nothing.

FYI, 1991 was the last year that the 351W was used in he Crown Vic and only police package vehicles got them. The 1993 only had the 4.6 SOHC. As for OCI's, my 2001 Crown Vic does fine with 7,500 to 10,000 intervals with the same filter. M1 5W-30 oil and filter. Happy motoring.

well its probably a 1991 then cause the manual says 351W and yes it was a police model. Thanks for the input

My police package (well, "Severe Duty Edition" is what I think it was called) 94 Bronco had a 351W in it...still have one of the gigantic Motorcraft oil filters for it sitting in my garage if anyone wants it...

M-1 EP should hold up fine untill least 7500 miles. Do a UOA at 5,000 to make sure your not having problems that you dont know about and to give you better a guide for an OCI.

You can't confuse the '91 with the '93.
The '91 is the last year of brick-shaped Crown Vics. The '92 and up Crown Vics are all aerodynamic, rounded like a freaking Star Trek Federation vessel.
BTW, nice ride. I test drove one of those one time. It's a little stiff, and not genuinely fast, but the low-end torque on that thing makes it a good responder for such a big car. Goes good until you have to wind it out to the top of its RPM range.
