Any other BITOG'ers give away oil?

A friend of mine came over to help him with changing the oil on his 2 Nissans today. We couldn't get the filters off due to the difficult placement and that the engines were hot, so we just changed the oil. M1 for his Sentra, PZ Dino for his Quest.

I gave him the oil for free as he's having a hard time with his bills lately. I figure it's the least I could do to help.

It got me thinking, do you all give away oil in your shrine?

I have given some oil that was FAR to my parents. It was PP and I did not need it at the time but I could not pass it up. PP doesnt do well in my truck anyway. It really burns up fast.

The in-laws get free oil from me. The outlaws get it from anyone they please.

Depends on how cheap I got it, how much I have left on the shelf, and mostly, who's going to receive it.

I do for my mom and sister. I also wouldn't mind helping out people if I knew they appreciated it or could use the help.

I've been doing oil changes for the parents lately and I've used FAR PP in my mom's car a few times. My dad usually ends up paying for his oil but I have some Shell and Peak waiting for the next time. In a way though, I don't actually give it away since they do give me spending money sometimes and pay for food when I'm home.

I'm sure your friend appreciates it. BTW, the oil filter on my dad's Quest is usually easy to get off but it seems to be hard to determine the direction that it turns.

I do my family's OC's from my private collection and I've also done friend's oil when they are in hard times. The friends get the old stock of conventional (mostly Mobil Clean 5000) before I started buying only syn though.

I bought a jug of Maxlife Syn on sale for $15 and changed the oil on my buddies truck. Its the least I can do when there is no oil on the dipstick.

Tony would share some of his if the person wanted to take care of their vehicle and was having a hard time making ends meet or if he wanted them to try something. I gave a couple cases to a youth group to sell in their fund raiser. It was 15w 40.

Sure I given away oil. If someone forgets to bring oil over for oil change and I have some, I'd be happy to give. However I have not given away synthetic oil though.

When I help someone service the car I usually check the oil and top off if necessary, of course I ask first. I also fill the windshield washer fluid and check the tire pressure.

I usually joke barter with my son. He gets some of my "bypassed" oils. Stuff that I've moved beyond and won't (probably) be using for years. The joke is that he's so busy (two kids and a new one on the way!)..he'll never get around to the payback.

No. Mine mine mine! ANd no I aint changing their oil for them too!! Grown up enough to have a vehicle. Grown up enough to pay for the maitenance. If not they will son be riding a bike or the bus.
My neighbor has an adult sun in his late 20's that has yet to move out. He buys older cars and trucks and practicly detroys them in a matter of months through simple abuse and his poor mechanical skills. (He thinks he's a mechanic but spray painting your Dodge neon black and removing the airfilter is not performance modification...) I have literally witnessed at least 4 vehicles destroyed in this boys hands to the point that they don't run anymore.. and need to be hauled away... in the two years I have lived in my house.. The past 6 or 8 months he has been riding a bicycle 3 miles to the highway so his boss could pick him up to install wood floors.
He gets interested when he sees me tinkering in my garage but I try to ignore him. The times I tried to engage him in car talk I was so completely flabergasted that I decided it was not worth the effort.

I put 4 quarts of Havoline DS and a bottle of ARX in my moms Corolla today.

No charge to them although they're not hurting financially.

My dad drives an Acura RL, maybe I'll do that one next.
