Any Honda Ridgeline Owners On Here??

I have a 2006 Ridgeline RTL (bought in 2005), one of the first on the road, now with about 207,000 miles. It's the only vehicle I have owned that I don't want to part with because I would just look for another exactly like this one. (By the way, I bought my first auto in 1962, so I've owned many.) I still love it.

I am in the timber business so truck has not only many highway miles, but has served me in extensive offroad applications. I'm not looking to incite any controversy, but I can report that a couple of American brand trucks (which I respect) have literally lost bumpers and other parts trying to follow me through flooded ditches and up steep banks while evaluating tracts of timber in Georgia.

For me, it has been about as good a combination of refined highway comfort/convenience and off road dependability and toughness as I could expect anything to have. The in-bed trunk especially separates it from other vehicles.

In this forum and in conversations with other owners I hear about a wide disparity of fuel mileage. Mine has always gotten about 20 - 21 mpg on highway driving 65-70 mph. I have no explanation for why a few report 15-16 mpg unless it's including in town driving or driving at faster highway speeds.

I have been pretty diligent about following Honda recommended maintenance schedules and I have not tried to skimp by skipping items to get by with only oil/filter change.

Last week my engine light came on and I think it may be related to catalytic converter. Tomorrow I'll have Honda check the codes. That's probably the worst thing I can report in over 205,000 miles.

Amazingly, when I look at new Ridgelines at a Honda dealership, I see no discernible differences to the exterior and even when peeking through the windows, it's hard to even spot cosmetic differences to the interior.

Excellent and honest review of your Ridge DooDah.
The subject (Ridgeline...is it a real truck?) can often lead to very nasty or at least pointed comments, with most coming from the folks who drive Fords, Chevy's, Dodge's, etc. I too think the Ridge fits the bill perfectly. I just purchased a second one after having one in '06. My mpg's are averaging about 18. I think that's pretty good, especially for a brand new one. I expect more as it breaks in. (Miles are a mix of mostly highway).

18 mpg with a mix of city/highway is probably about what you'll get. It's only rated for 15/21. Our MDX is rated exactly the same, and on a true "combined" tank, we get upper teens. City mpg is pretty near to 15 and highway mpg is pretty near to 21, at least if we're driving quickly and/or driving in the summer with the A/C on. We've gotten as high as 25 on a tank, but that was under ideal conditions. These older-style J35s are just thirsty little mills.

If I'm not mistaken, starting with the '09 Ridge, Honda tweeked the engine a bit and added a sleeve to reduce friction in the cylinders. It improved mpg's slightly. Being that with whatever vehicle I drive, I always better the rated mpg's by a good margin. My driving habits I suppose. While the Ridge will never be a fuel sipper, I'm thinking on the highway I will get around 21 to 24. Folks over on the Ridgeline Owners Forum have experienced this (at least a good percentage have). Some even a bit more than what I thought possible. Be that as it may, the Ridge in it's current form is not aerodynamic enough to achieve higher mpg's. I can feel the drag as a matter of fact. But I still love this vehicle and feel that it does exactly as I want it to.

It's possible that the engine was tweaked along the way. If it was, it wasn't enough to alter its fuel economy estimates. 21 to 24 on the highway is reasonable...it is rated for 21 after all. 21 if driven under harsher conditions like hilly terrain or very high/low temperature, and closer to 24 in more ideal conditions such as flatter terrain or slower speeds. As with any fuel economy result, there are so many variables at play.

Well I went today and tried out the Ridgeline. I absolutely loved it!!!

I'm picking it up tomorrow! I'll post some pics tomorrow

You won't regret it! But then again I am biased.

I didn't know Enterprise rented Ridgelines. Too cool.

I think your girlfriend was lying though.
