If you don't have the '04 Merc anymore, you ought to update your signature.

Congrats to you Sir. Nice vehicle! Did you get the 1.9%/60mo? Pretty sweet IMO.

Thank you. I wanted to stay with my own credit union....so they matched it or I would have gone elsewhere.

To everyone arguing about it isn't a truck, can't haul and can't tow, thanks for NOT reading anything I said and adding your opinions that don't apply to my situation one little bit.

As I stated in the beginning I have no need for a "real truck". I want something that I can haul light loads in = No need for a regular truck. I WILL NEVER be towing, and yet people keep bringing that up. IRS do i care that its not solid???? NO as I said I want a light hauler and good handling and passenger comfort.

The whole point of this thread was to hear from actual users of this vehicle and people with the same powertrain to find out how good and how they like it. Not "this isn't a real truck blah blah". I don't want to hear it.

So please any more posts please be beneficial, and for goodness sake, actually read what I posted in the first place instead of just posting.

I hear ya. Some people just aren't happy unless they're bashing something they know nothing about (but are obviously envious of).

My brother told his son that he could have his 2006 Jeep Cherokee when he got his driver's license. My nephew replied "I'd rather have uncle's Ridgeline instead." Thank goodness he's only 13!

I have had my RL for 2 1/2 years and 37K.
My avg mpg is 18-19.If you do rush hour driving it will be less.
I do all my own maintenance and it is very easy.
The only problem so for is a leaking tire rim.

I have been extremely happy with it after owning 4 full size trucks since '84.The FWD/AWD , car like handling and roomy interior makes for a great daily driver truck.

Man I remember when I asked about RLs three years ago.
The flames were hot!
Congrats Andrewg hope to see you on the ROC!

I had a new 2010 Pilot that I sold after 14 months because

1.) attending to the VTM fluid myself every other OCI was a PIA and $30, the dealer wanted $100.

2.) the VCM or whatever they call it was awful and fuel here in the cold was sub 15 city.

3.) it ate tires..I never saw anything like that.

4.) I knew it had a belt but all the other maintenance on top I didn't figure made me rethink and dump..just too much per mile.

My Highlander by comparison is much more efficient too bad Toyota doesn't put a small bed on it's platform.

Sold it for the difficult maintenance? After only a year? You say it was too much per mile....yet how much did you lose buying it new and getting rid of it so soon? Must have been thousands. And you say it ate tires in that amount of time??? Sorry, but I smell something here. It either sounds like you are exaggerating....or simply made this stuff up.
Don't mean to be rude, but your post is rather odd.

not odd to me..bought it for sales rep work on the road put 28k on then changed jobs to a less travel account manager position so I was driving this for the most part empty. think I paid $32k and sold for $26k

My other vehicles also have tires..not odd..I'm a good on tires but this monster almost ate through the oem G/Y in that 28k.

And yes the pita VTM is $30 DIY or $100 from the dealer every 15k I do find that odd and excessive for a pumpkin.

another oddity was the VCM..carbons up and ruins a otherwise smooth 3.5

This was a 2010 so maybe they've addressed some of these issues but that unit was over engineered to the point it was a fuel pig and un pleasant and expensive to operate....yes, odd for a Honda.

Ok.....not so 'odd' given the fact that you drove the snot out of it. If you would have said that in your post, then it would have made a bit more sense as to how a set of tires got used up in 14 months....plus the maintenance issues. I don't understand why you say the VTM is difficult to maintain however. Driving a vehicle that much would tend to more than double any maintenance requirements. Could you explain further on why you say the VCM built up carbon and caused issues?

Unless the Ridgeline is different from our MDX, which uses the same VTM-4 system, fluid changes are every 30k miles, but with the first change at 15k miles.

Nearly 30k miles out of OEM Goodyear rubber is pretty good. OEM tires are often very fast-wearing tires. The OEM Bridgestones on my '07 Corolla were gone before 20k miles.

OEM tires can definitely go either way. The OEM Michelins (with a treadwear of 440 IIRC) on our Accord were toast by 30k miles. The UHP summer OEM Bridgestones on my GTO (with a treadwear rating of 120) are still nowhere near spent at 27k and it weighs about 400 lbs more with about twice the horsepower.

OEM tires on our Camry (Bridgestone?) were done at 30kmiles. Dealer recommended Michelin (don't recall model offhand), as they were slightly cheaper and a number of people reported that they lasted longer. [Dealer has some gimmick where the first set of replacement tires are "free" since you bought the car new from them.] My wife is a pretty sedate driver.

Yeah that is odd. Like I posted earlier, I still have the original Michelins on mine after 70k. Looks like I will be able to go over 80k on them. I change the VTM every 30k. Easy as changing the oil. Can you explain the carbon issue you had though? I don't recall this being an issue and mine is a 2007.

The Ridgeline doesn't have the VCM version of the V-6...it uses Honda's "conventional" SOHC VTEC valvetrain. There are no VCM issues with the Ridgeline...even current model ones. That's one reason that their fuel economy estimates haven't changed since they were introduced in 2006...the powertrain hasn't really changed since they were introduced in 2006.

i own one,
pros:
1. handling, ride, quiet, ok power, spacious, trunk to lock stuff, stereo rocks, 2 way opening tailgate, turning radius. seats rocks for long trips.

cons:
1. mpg, pretty bad for the size of vehicle, I get 15 if I am lucky, and 17/18 on hwy.
2. bed edge is slant and not many topper options, I hate to spend $2k on topper only to have it leak down the road.
3. assembly done with pot smoking labor, most of the inside handles came loose, I had to put them back on. lcd display on dash developed a wet look right after warranty was up. OEM michelins had dry rot on deliv.

overall: if you ain't going to tow a 15k lb centerconsole or a pilothouse boat or something similar, it is the truck I would get if they have juicy rebates.
i have towed small boat and hauled 1500lb of stone and soil and truck worked fine.
I bought mine with $4k off sticker pricing.

Have any other owners had issues with the under-bed storage bins leaking? A friend of the family had an issue where water leaked into the bin, froze, and then made it impossible to open or get out the (ruined) items inside.

My girlfriend used to work for Enterprise rental cars. She said the rental Ridgelines were notorious for leaking storage bins.

I've had a first year model....and now a current Ridgeline. Never once had an issue with a leaking storage bin. As for a rental Ridgeline? Well, it might have something to do with being abused. I've never even seen a rental Ridge though....unusual.

Considering a Toyota 4x4 pickup with a tiny four cylinder (and much smaller interior) gets about the same mpg's on a good day....I think the Ridge is just fine.
