Another GR86 blown and warranty denied

That video was a total snoozefest. If that causes engine failure and loss of warranty, well, just goes to show what an overpriced piece of junk this "racing" Corolla is. I've beat on my various cars over the years, none of which were "designed" to go on a track, harder than that. Can't believe the price they ask for the "racing" Corolla and that anyone actually buys them.

Toyota should stick to hybrids. These "racing" Corollas are trash, and their attempt at an EV (BZ4X) is a joke.
Where do you get "racing" corolla? this car has NOTHING to do with the Corolla... the first gen was a unique platform, freshly devloped for this car. the second gen incorporates elements from Subaru's "Global platform" that underpins pretty much EVERY subaru model since '16. The Engine is Subaru, and they're all built in the main Japanese Subaru factory....

This is a stupid take. Any unmodified car should be able to handle itself.

Start modifying and it's a different story.

Really?

Plenty of LS1's in the junkyard from oil starvation on the track in unmodified form.

Vettes with their spanky 6 piston calipers with brake fade on factory unmodified brakes in the wall.

Personally saw a brand new WRX STI pancake into a wall when the factory, unmodified brakes wouldn't slow him down into turn 12 at Road Atlanta.

Those are factory cars that couldn't 'handle themselves' on the track. All that I have personally seen, mostly all at Road Atlanta.

So yes, if you're not willing to sacrifice your car to the track gods, don't go on the track.

That's why I always buy track insurance.

"work with" isn't the right wording.... Toyota is the Largest single shareholder of Subaru they own about 20% of the company.
Exactly. They shouldn't work with Subaru if they aren't going to take some of the weight since they have an obligation because they are their largest shareholder. If they were a minor shareholder and were just badge engineering then it wouldn't be their problem. But if they are going to have that much ownership in Subaru they have to step it up. And if they won't step it up then they shouldn't have that much weight in the company and withdraw.

Sorry I mixed up GR86 with GR Corolla.

Same things apply otherwise though.

Toyota shoud've done with BRZ as they did with the new Supra, ask BMW to build it for them and then slap their badge on it.
Actually, the Z4/Supra is built in Austria by Magna Styr, a contract manufacturer. BMW did the majority of the engineering on the cars with Toyota changing the styling, the interior and mildly mod'ing the suspension.

Agreed. That said, I've taken every one of "my" cars I've owned to at least one HPDE and aside from a front strut on my 2007 MS3 I've never had any sort of failure. My Club Sport was my HPDE instructor car from 1996 to 2012

BMW did ALL engineering. Magna Steyer is an old BMW contractor.

makes me love my old cars even more
5000 rpm for 7ish miles up a mountain at WOT and no problems
Same here with my B13 Sentra, foot to the floor up 'The Smasher on The Coquihalla for 4-5 minutes straight in 30C weather.
Temp gauge didn't budge.
Car has performed that exact task at least 10 times that I can remember.
