Where do you get "racing" corolla? this car has NOTHING to do with the Corolla... the first gen was a unique platform, freshly devloped for this car. the second gen incorporates elements from Subaru's "Global platform" that underpins pretty much EVERY subaru model since '16. The Engine is Subaru, and they're all built in the main Japanese Subaru factory....
I suspect that's at least part of the problem...

Exactly. They shouldn't work with Subaru if they aren't going to take some of the weight since they have an obligation because they are their largest shareholder. If they were a minor shareholder and were just badge engineering then it wouldn't be their problem. But if they are going to have that much ownership in Subaru they have to step it up. And if they won't step it up then they shouldn't have that much weight in the company and withdraw.

Actually, the Z4/Supra is built in Austria by Magna Styr, a contract manufacturer. BMW did the majority of the engineering on the cars with Toyota changing the styling, the interior and mildly mod'ing the suspension.
Agreed. That said, I've taken every one of "my" cars I've owned to at least one HPDE and aside from a front strut on my 2007 MS3 I've never had any sort of failure. My Club Sport was my HPDE instructor car from 1996 to 2012
BMW did ALL engineering. Magna Steyer is an old BMW contractor.
This GR86 is junk, period.
Same here with my B13 Sentra, foot to the floor up 'The Smasher on The Coquihalla for 4-5 minutes straight in 30C weather.
