I made my second 20K mile OCI on Amsoil 0W-30. I do mostly freeway driving and try to keep my car in top shape. As compared the last UOA, I changed the filter(820S) at 10K into the run, rather than every 5K like I did last time. I filled the filter with about 1/3 quart prior to installation. The car did nto use any oil during the period.

I also used the Amsoil microfiber air filer (forgot number). For this new upcoming run I also installed an Amsoil microfiber oil filter and plan on using it throughout.

Amazing consistency - I bet you could run the filter the full 20k, and have an almost picture perfect run to 20k (ie, w/o the top-off, your TBN would be right at the change level at 20k)

Funny that with less top-off, the oil lost more viscosity - shows some shearing is going on.

Great run!

OMG! those numbers have to be wrong!
Amsoil never has readings like that!
Most all the samples are taken at half those miles
and the results are not this good!
all the local dino experts will agree this results are false.
Now to the regular program!
Amsoil used as the manufacture recommends, last just like
what the manufacture CLAIMS, "IMAGINE THAT"!
real good report, Happy for you I get similar reports!
how is you milage?

It is nice to see Amsoil being run like it is designed for. The engine is a good wearing engine. Can't ask for better results.

I normally get a little over 25 mpg and got as high as the high 27's during the oil crisis when I slowed down to 60 mph. Normlly, it's either stop and go or 80 mph plus around here.

that is very respectable for a Crown Vic, my Toreass SHO gets 20/23 city and 23/25 hwy I should get better results but I cant keep an egg underneath the gas pedal.
Im sure on a long trip 500+ miles I will see 27+ but no trips like that planned anytime soon.

Great results. More proof that SSO holds up well on long OCIs.

I'm assuming that the second UOA was done with the filter change at 140,000 miles, not at 150,000 miles as shown.

That is correct. I ran the same oil from 130 to 150 but changed the filter (820S) at 140. I added about 1/3 quart to the filter before I installed it. No other oil was added.

I have 2.73 gears, that may have something to do with it. Your SHO probably has something higher.

Nice! I don't put near as many miles on mine as you. Im running about 11,000 a year and with my short trip usage I dont see going a full year even with amsoil.

As I noted many many times due to my own testing, changing the filter half way through an oil change is useless, it does nothing to affect the UOA results. A useless appendage!

Combo of nice, slow turning engine, good oil,and easy driving. Should last you a long time at this wear rate.

"I do mostly freeway driving"

Did you miss that part boss?

20,000 miles of all stop and go would probably look a bit different. Not taking ANYTHING away from the report though. If I had perfect driving conditions of all highway driving, I'd feel safe extending conventional oil out to perhaps 10,000 miles, confirmed by UOA.
