This is the first UOA of my recently purchased 1992 Crown victoria. The milage is low, the exterior and interior are in incredible shape for the age, and the vehicle has some mechanical issues, this is usually how I like to purchase my vehicles. The story from the seller is that the original owner parked it about 10 years ago when she was no longer able to drive, the vehicle sat inside a warehouse, and was recently revived after a long period of sitting, by way of a fuel pump and tank, possibly a wash, and apparently nothing else. I drove the vehicle home about an hour running on 7 cylinders at best. The oil change sticker in the windshield is from a Ford dealership, from 2010, possibly the last oil change. The oil was pretty bad visibly, and the filter had visible sludge. I will post filter cut photos in the respective forum. The analysis results are fairly horrific, but after an oil change immediately after coming home, and new spark plugs and wires to fix the misfire, the engine is running smooth and quiet. With luck, I hope to have escaped catastrophic failure. It will be interesting to see how analysis pans out from here. The vehicle will receive several changes of bulk conventional to flush out the junk over the next few hundred to thousand miles.

Yikes!

I had a Ford 3.8 with iron almost that high, a month before major oil consumption started.

Good luck with this. Since you have got the engine running smoothly, I would just drive it and forget all that “borescope” stuff. Either the engine is worn and mechanically degraded, in which case you would maybe find a replacement block, or the contamination is an artifact of sitting for two decades, which would be a huge win. I would certainly be using an inexpensive but good synthetic oil bolstered by Marvel Mystery Oil. (Not that you were asking:)). Good luck.

Curious to see how it plays out next time. That's a report I wish to never see in any of my fleet. Sometimes it's a gamble mechanically but sounds like this is what you're after to get a deal. Post the next UOA if you can or do you sell them from here? Was the oil low?

Not planning to sell, if all works out, it will be my daily driver. Haha yes I am after the deal, and comfortable doing the repairs if needed, I've had good luck in the past. This is the first UOA I have done on one of my older vehicles, it's interesting to have the data. In the past I've just done short changes I till the oil stopped getting dark as quickly.

The oil was not low, just a bit overfull. I plan to do more analysis from here on out

It is said that an automatic transmission which has long sat will leak with resumed use.
We'll see if it applies to yours.
4R70W ?
AODE, which is very similar to the 4R70W, different gear ratios, and a torque converter drain are some of the notable mechanical differences.

Good luck with the car. I’d go with ST Syn or Providence Syn and a CarQuest premium filter.
