What would be a good OCI using Amsoil ASL for a hard working 4 banger with an owner with a heavy lead foot, lots of idling, and 80% highway and 20% city driving. This car is also brand new with 11L miles. I am currently using PP and would like to use Amsoil with an extended OCI. I am most concerned about wear here.

Sounds like the type of driving the Texas State Police do and they use the same Amsoil with 20,000 mile OCI in over 3000 police cars. They now also use the EaO oil filter for the same mileage. They found the wear was less doing it this way than when they did 2,000 to 3,000 mile oil changes with conventional oil.

Go with the Amsoil XL series for 7,500 miles and do a UOA. If it comes back good, then move up to their other oils and extend it to 10,000 miles and do another UOA. From then on, just extend it based on your UOA findings.

You didn't say how many miles per year you were doing. (?)

Assuming you're doing 15k/yr - I'd go to 10k - do a dipstick UOA - see if lab tells you to press on. Go 1 yr OCIs if lab blesses it.
