Amsoil or Redline for VW engines

The cheapest Walmart, recycled dino oil and the Amsoil XL-7500 Series oils are both API licensed, however the 10.5 TBN, Amsoil product will far outperform and outlast the 6-7 TBN, Walmart oil. This is why the current API licensing program is completely useless as an indicator of oil quality and durability. The API "SL" spec is roughly equivalent to the bottom tier, ACEA, "A1/B1" specification. In other words, it's a commodity product ....

The ACEA has no formal licensing program.... If you claim ACEA, "A3/B4" performance as Amsoil does, the only requirement is that you keep documentation on hand showing your additive chemistry has been tested to meet the specs on the bottle. Provided the basestock is of sufficiently high quality, the additive chemistry alone determines if you will meet the API, ACEA and European OEM test specifications....

If you still don't understand the API and ACEA requirements, please give me a call sometime ....
