Amsoil OE vs XL?

So I was looking at these two products. They seem to have an almost identical spec sheet on their respective sites. This made me beg to ask the question, is the XL formulation worth the additional cost over the OE? Here are the specs sheets provided on the amsoil website.

depending on your drain interval goal is, either will do.. they're both similar everything.. XL has a higher TBN. but OE is pretty good as well.
 
I've run OE to 5000 miles with good TBN remaining. XL will go further. As Flareside said, what is your planned OCI?
 
same base, different additives. Slightly stronger add pack in XL. If doing manufacturer recommended intervals, no reason to go beyond Amsoil OE.
 
I understand the running longer part because of the higher tbn, but the other items listed on that spec sheet are within a point of one another. Makes me really wonder if there really is that much of a chemical difference between the two. Now the ASO is another story....that things a beast haha
 
most of those numbers are based on the basestock which is the same for both oils. They should be similar. The TBN is based on additive package, which is why it is different.
 
I believe Amsoil make high quality products. But if I were to go to the expense and hassle of ordering Amsoil motor oil I would get their best. Its makes no sense to get the XL or OEM in my mind. I can just for a get Mobil 1 or PP at Walmart.

I do order Amsoil ATF and SVG from Amsoil
