Just took a drive to a few stores that stock synthetic oils. Average cost of a 5 qt jug is around 27 bucks. The trip was 60 miles round trip for a cost of 12 bucks...grand total of 39 bucks.

Amsoil OE synthetic is about 25 bucks for 5 quarts and shipping with filter about 10 bucks....grand total 35 bucks. I am thinking of switching back.....Thoughts?

PS, I do 5K oil changes with group III synthetics

Unless I have to have something, I usually just don't drive to store for anything. Last week I lost the oil fill cap of my wife car, it felt of the top of the engine and I could not find it, I had to go get the replacement and called several stores and asked the nearest store to hold one.

For oil, ATF, oil filter ... I tried to schedule the trip so that I could get several things done in 1 trip. With gas price is this high, I don't drive 30-40 miles round trip for some simple things.

Amsoil has good fluids, from oil to ATF to MTF but the killer is the shipping, and I hate to pay $20 annual fee so that you can have some discount.

Contact Pablo!! We can chat about the PC thing.

And shipping a case of oil for $11 (26 pounds) should never be described as a deal killer. Fuel is still close to $4 gallon. My Walmart is 30 miles one way.

Or Eao for 15K with 3 5k OIL changes?

I dont see why not if thats the closest store to you it sounds like it would be a great deal at that point. Pay the 20.00 for PC and stock up for a years worth of oil at one shipping cost= no driving for oil stuff at all and at those prices you cant beat it.

luckily there's 3 walmarts within a 3mile radius where i live

Pablo makes a good point! It's like when I need to get certain car care products, I can drive an hour and a half round trip and pick them up in person (which I have done once, although it was a nice day for a long drive in the Vette) or I can mail order them and Purolator drops it off at my doorstep the very next day, for $13. I definitely used more than $13 in gas to drive there to pick the stuff up.

correct me if im wrong, but the more you buy by the case the cheaper you can get it? i know there are a couple of occasions where i ordered 2 cases and the price came out to be cheaper than my preferred price.

Wow - I'm sorry about that. That would suck.

Yes, case price on OE is even better.

The closest Walmart is about 12-13 miles from my home, the closet auto parts is O'Reilly about 6 miles, Pep Boys and Autozone is about 10 miles, Kmart is 15-16 miles from home, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's are between 7 to 12 miles.

Buying parts online makes sense in my case, when I'm running out my oil stash I may consider buying Amsoil online.

JMO, switch to conventional oil. Any major brand conventional will do 5K OCI easily.

Otherwise, if you are committed to using synthetic, wouldn't let a measly 4 bucks deter me from running the oil I actually wanted.
