Gokhan, you make OE sound like real crap. I don't see it being any worse than regular Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec or Valvoline full synthetic. That's if the BOQI is even accurate. Not saying it is or isn't, that's a whole other topic. Regardless, I and others do appreciate your efforts. Cheers.

Amsoil OE has same hths, of 3.3 viscosity @100 is 11.0. They are the same except tbn for XL is 10, OE=8.

I've wondered how OE compares to those oils and have thought about using it. Especially since oil-in-stock at my local Walmart seems to change on a regular basis. My Frontier PU gets a lot of use off road and tows a 3K pound travel trailer on a regular basis. I do 5k OCIs no matter what oil is in the crankcase.

I ordered Amsoil OE just to try it out when I bought their Severe Gear lube 75W-110 for the Crown Vic. I've been using it in the CTS with the 2.0T in my last 2 interim OCIs and it's been good to me so far. Haven't done a used oil analysis just yet, but I go pretty short intervals on that car so I'm not expecting any breakthrough results.

But from what I've read, the consensus seems to be that it's more or less on par with vanilla M1, so considering how M1 is easier to buy and at a lower price, M1 would make more sense.

Thanks for sharing... I would be interested in your used oil analysis. Maybe a Wix 24077 from RockAuto for $10?

Yeah they even had the synpower oil treatment and qt size engine treatment stuff. Think it was like mos2 or LUBEGARD biotech. The dot 4 was a great product for brake fluid and clutch fluid.

OE has shown some very nice used oil analysis on here. One was even run much longer than it should have been and still showed very low wear metals.
I use in in my grandmother's Kia Spectra that only gets driven 2-3k per year.
1 year oci with a Wix filter, been doing this a few years now and working well for us.

I think all of their motorcycle/ATV and gear/ATF lubes are. But, purely speculation on my part for what little research I've done.

The Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 I bought a while back was HTHS=3.58...but, there is more than one Mobil 1 ESP line now and I don't know which is which. I think the stuff I bought was actually "ESP Formula".
Any dexos2 5W30 will have an HTHS of 3.5 or greater, but they can be harder to find in the US...

That's correct, the original Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 Formula had an HTHS value of 3.58, that's what I'm using in my Corvette right now (and I've got 4 more oil changes worth, and have been going to different Canadian Tire locations buying it up as they have it on clearance right now) The new formulation is simply called 5w30 ESP and has an HTHS value of 3.5.

I'm just not sure which of the two formulas is actually better. The original formula has a super low sulfated ash level of 0.6% (I can't think of another oil this low) vs 0.8% for the new formula. It also has been reported to have a NOACK of 5.6%, the new formula is unknown there.

But there is one thing about the new formula I do like, it's viscosity at 40c is 62.6 cst, vs 72.8 cst for the old formula. So the new formula might be a bit better on a cold start.

That's a real solid noack value. Would be great if new formula noack is relatively close to that. It tops AMSOIL Signature Series at 6.7. Might be close to Red Line's noack. Also the viscosity @ 40 of the new formula seems like a good improvement to prevent wear and help warm-ups. Sign me up!

I use OE in our Jeep Renegade 2.4L - 7,500 OCI & A Dodge Dart 2.4L 8,000 OCI both changed by the oil light, of course both vehicles run great, I love ordering AMSOIL online and having it delivered to my home, dont have to waste my time at Walmart or other stores hoping to find the oil of my choosing and then lugging it home, I like the design of the AMSOIL bottles and they sell a handy spout with cap so I can do easy top offs without using a funnel, it just works for me.
TOTO.

AMSOIL Signature Series is a Group 4 PAO with some Group 5 Ester in it and better additives so it can go longer than the XL, It is not API Licensed. (To be changed at a maximum of 25,000 miles in regular service conditions)

Amsoil Euro can be either or a mix depending on the grade and does carry some official OEM approvals. (Changed at OEM service intervals)

All their oils are tested by an independent 3rd party lab against the specifications they say they meet on their technical data bulletins.

Assume AMSOIL Signature Series protects the engine the best (Group 4 PAO + Group 5 Ester), why bother using Amsoil Euro series? It's all because of the OEM approvals?

Question: AMSOIL Signature Series shall provide a better level protection than Amsoil Euro (probably Group 3 + Group 4), is that correct?

For an EA888 Gen 3b. gasoline (with both port and direct fuel injection) engine, it shall be OK to use AMSOIL Signature Series, I assume? (even it's withOUT OEM approvals as VW 502 00)

Base oils aren't the be all end all anymore. Additives in conjunction with the base oils make great oils. Every base oil has it's pros & cons so it's about fitting the needs and using the base oil and additive package that best suits the job.

Euro vehicles have special requirements that API oils have a hard time fitting so they came out with another type.

I would have no issue running any of the Amsoil oils and could care less what base-stock is in each. I intend to go for extended intervals and that is the only reason I currently use SS, because it's built for that.

I think some Amsoil purchasers feel better if they see the API certs. This means they lean toward the OE and XL lines and probably why Amsoil markets these. In my opinion.
Personally I prefer Amsoil OE for this reason, I don’t trust oil that is not API certified , besides what is the reason to spend more money if I am not going to extend my OCI beyond the manufacturer recommendation!, in my opinion, to spend $80 in two oil changes during a year is better than to spend $70 in one oil change in a year. Also Signature series may harm the catalyst due to its higher TBN additives.
