Amsoil Engine Flush Results

Not to hijack this tread but would it be alright to leave the engine flush in for a whole OCI? The new version?

No. No full container of engine flush in the engine for a whole OCI. But I used 2-3oz Lubegard engine flush for 45-50 miles round trip before drain it. Before I added engine flush I check the oil dipstick, the color was medium amber. I checked the oil dipstick 50 miles later, the oil was black.

Yes, if using any 'mild' engine flush additive at oil change time, if you DRIVE with it in there, please only use a couple ounces at most to 'start' the process. Do not add the bottle, even only half of it, and go driving around. If going for a lazy drive for 25-30 miles etc on 2 ounces, okay, and perhaps add the rest at idle just before dropping it. The rest is trying something that's too risky.

Driving with any in there is already using the product, in most cases, in a way the bottle does not recommend(depending on the directions). Most say not to drive with it in there. I remember SeaFoam used to allow for more miles before an oil change "when added to the crankcase". Now I believe it's less than 70 or so.

It's probably the safest, smartest thing to do.
 
Another update:

I did stop and visit the 35 year Amsoil selling guy yesterday (he has hundreds of cases... -->

He brought out his large handheld meter to test the oil.

He said the wear metals are low. Low contaminants also. No anti-freeze, nothing.

So, it's good to go. I was considering draining it out just in case there was some flush left, but it looks like that's unnecessary...

Oh, dude, I've been puttin' in MMO for ~25,000 miles and the oil still did not come clean.

This Amsoil Engine Flush cleaned 'er right up. Cannot believe the difference.

A totally different animal than MMO. Amsoil's product is a true flush, MMO isn't. Grab the Amsoil or Kreen for a really sludged up engine and it should clean it up in short order. Then use MMO for the last 1000 miles of an OCI to keep it clean. JMO

Mine was a sludge monster and I found out after a while no way MMO was going to tackle this mess, so I threw in the Ex-Lax.

MMO is great for light-moderate cleaning.
 
LOL Ex-Lax. I was thinking more like a High Potency Engine Enema. HPEE for short! Catchy isn't it?

Another good flush is Lubegard.
 
I've heard good things about it too. Seems like Kreen and the Amsoil flush are two winners for a fast clean up job!
