Why? Can't you just do with ordinary quality filters like Purolator or Supertech?

My point being that why does it always have to be some kind of fancy boutique oil filter for something like a B&S engine?

*not disagreeing with you but want to know the rationale behind such thinking...*

Cross to a Wix 51056, or if you have room for a 3-1/2" long filter, a 51348.
If you want to go whole hog and have room for a 4.8" long filter, then 51516.

Thanks Bill.

As to the first question, I want the best full flow filtration I can get. The filter will get changed once a year. It's a $600 lawn mower. I want it to last as long as possible and the price of 1 EaO is nothing when you are only buying it once a year.

The Wix 51348 & equivalents are used on the large (4.8?) Lexus V-8's, amongst other cars.
I would think the relative small flow rate from a little Briggs would result in filtering way above it's nominal micron rating.
Not that I begrudge you, but a SuperTech 3614 would probably make the engine last longer than the deck its mounted on.
