amsoil asl 5w30vs series 3000 5w30 for winter

so what is better for a winter oil for some COLD starts in northern new hampshire and maine? of 0w30? i am currently using the series 3000 5w30 in my wifes 03 tacoma i4

Like others have said, you are splitting hairs. My advice is that if you are not maximizing drains go with the less expensive product.

If you are utilizing by-pass filtration and using trend analysis, the initial price of the oil really doesn't matter that much.

BTW, I ran the Series 2000 0w30 in my F150 4.6L V-8 for 3 years and it's a great oil too.
 
Unless it gets colder than about neg 25 on a regular basis then S3k 5w30 is just fine.

I believe the HDD 5w30 flows just a bit better than the ASL, but not by much.

Of course, the 0w30 would flow slightly better. But if you're that worried I'd suggest investing in a block heater.
 
You are not going to notice much difference if any. The specs are very close. The ASl is a lot cheaper but the series 3000 may last a little longer.
