I had 5 recalls while I had my Maverick. It wasn't an issue because they never would fix them and my vehicle never suffered any ills...
Count Ford paint as top notch in My last 7 Fords... Honda paint a big fat Zero...
Color can have a very large affect on this. Light color low VOC paints are hardest to apply properly.

I would agree just from casual observance that Honda still seems to struggle with this.

I’m not the one making decisions on the basis of one incident. You are.

A proper risk assessment has to look at the overall set of statistics, not a single sensational news article.

Carrying around a hundred plus pounds of explosives, (which is what a 25 gallon gasoline tank actually is) is a risk that you will willingly accept without doing any analysis.

Gasoline cars burst into flame all the time. Gasoline leaks in rusty lines and tanks cause spontaneous combustion during driving. The puncture of those items during a collision leads to fires like the one I linked.

But a lithium battery fire, which typically happens during charging, seems to scare you.

You probably shouldn’t own a cell phone then, you’re carrying around a little tiny death trap fire waiting to burn you…

Gasoline cars catch fire in garages all the time.

Gasoline cars catch fire at 60 times the rate of EV’s.

No one has yet died from EV electric fire. But thousands have died in gasoline fires.

There are over 100,000 automobile fires every year in the United States, and they’re almost all from gasoline cars.

If it only "takes one occurrence" - you should avoid anything with that much flammable liquid in it, because about 500 times a day, one of those gasoline cars catches fire.

This statement is as bad as the one your railing against, and I know you know better. Gasoline is not an explosive - its a class 3 flammable liquid, 1 being the highest, and is very safe in motor vehicles. Only real risk is if the vehicle is already on fire.

Lithium batteries when properly designed are safe also. If they ever do catch fire they are very hard to put out, and there have been some pretty spectacular examples as well as examples of poorly designed versions also.

I presume the odds of either being a problem assuming no design flaws are pretty minimal.
 
EVs are only for rich California granola heads with fire extinguishers...

All joking aside, this is just another survey, with little detail in support of the results. Buy what you like; it's your hard earned money.

Yes, gasoline is a flammable liquid. However, gasoline vapors are highly explosive when mixed with air. Additionally, leaks near hot car parts or electrical sparks can start sudden fires, but this is not the fault of the gasoline.

I've seen bazillions of dramatic car explosions in movies, so that proves it, right? (Kidding of course...)

Fair enough - I should have said, "explosive equivalent" which is more accurate.

The chemical energy in a tank of gasoline is part of what makes it works so well as a fuel - energy density.

But that energy density has a downside - it's available to fuel a fire and gasoline vapor happens when gasoline hits warm pavement, hot engine parts, hot exhaust parts, and other bits that are part of every car.

Crashes notwithstanding, lots of these ev's are bursting into flames curbside while parked or like in the video, while charging. I'd always have that fear in the back of my mind when I went to bed at night.
