I'm coming around to that point of view also. Except maybe I'll buy something with less than 10k....
In all fairness to OP, I did own one low powered car back in the 80s that would get worse mpg and have less power just before the oil change. I took almost weekly trips through the mountains of WV so was very familiar with the performance (or lack thereof) of the vehicle.
