Looks like Fram is doing a full takeover in AAP, went in tonight looking for clearances oil (btw don’t waste your time, not many good prices) but the sales guy said that all carquest oil products will be transitioned over to Fram. Yes this includes oil filter, so I’m assuming the store brand will now officially be Fram. Think we will get a store brand version of the Fram Ultra Guard?

Goodbye Carquest stuff. Already heard that they changed the oil/filters. I’ve heard they are going to have a few new house brands to go with Diehard.....

We have had literally DOZENS of threads on this over the past year or so, in fact I just posted about the exact same subject (Fram Titanium = Fram Ultra) in another one of those redundant AAP-Fram threads just yesterday.

Interesting could you link the dozen threads talking about AAP STORE BRAND being made by fram? Not about Force or Titanium, those are Fram filters that are only sold by AAP. I’m specifically talking about relabeled filters. Much like we know the carquest now is made by purolator.

This is like the fourth thread on this same topic in about a week.
Links? When I did a search I didn’t find anything mentioned store brand oil filters. I saw oil, and I saw force/titanium. Literally when I started this thread the only “related” posts that came up were my own posts.

Tell us what the "AAP store brand" is exactly? You made this thread about FRAM and then asked about a "store brand" version of the Ultra. Like myself and others will tell you, the Fram Titanium and Fram Force ARE in fact AAP's store brand filter because they are unique and exclusive to the store.

I can understand if you are thinking along the lines of what was done with the Carquest line of products but I fail to see the point as in why it matters or even makes since for AAP to do that since they have established, over the past year, that the Fram Titanium and Fram Force are unique and exclusive product offerings only available at AAP.

You have stated exactly what I am talking about.

For example when you do an OC special at AAP, you can get the oil and a puro filter OR a carquest (house brand). Fram is not a house brand per-say because fram is sold in other locations. You cannot buy carquest off amazon. So, the point I was trying to make is that from what he was telling me, unless I understood wrong, is that the carquest line is gone, and there will be a new name for the store brand filters. Those filters will be produced by Fram, because I know they are not selling puro and fram to their commerical accounts so they have to replace the carquest line with something.

I agree I Fram Force/Titanium are repackaged filters, but I dont see them as the 'store brand' simply because AAP is the only one to sell them. Havoline only sells the 6 quart boxes at Walmart but that doesn't make it the store brand, they still sell Supertech Oil (thats my logic on the issue). There is other examples, but I think you understand what I am getting at.

Did I clarify what I am getting at here? Or is it as clear as mud?

I am not talking about motor oil, I am speaking about oil filters.

Looks like you were talking about both at the beginning

AAP is getting rid of the Carquest brand. Fram has more name recognition and I’m sure First Brands, the company that now owns Fram among other brands is compensating AAP

Thank you for clarifying, I apologise as I know I was likely perceived as being out of sorts but I suppose I have just seen to many redundant threads on related subjects recently.

Doubt there will be Fram made filters that are specifically labeled as some form of "AAP" since AAP already has the Fram models made and only sold in AAP stores.

A little more than just "repackaged" because there are some slight unique design changes for these Fram filters that are only sold at AAP. AAP could probably have asked Fram to label these filters differently than "Fram", but apparently there was a reason not to.

IMO it would be out of character for them not to offer a "store brand" even Walmart offers a store brand, while still selling Fram EG. Because now you have Fram and Purolator (Mobil 1 in this umbrella) sold in stores, and the only economy option is Puro, and being a former worker of AAP I can tell you, you sell 5:1 economy vs premium (w/o oil change specials)

So why would Fram want to miss out on that market? That is what makes me think there is something ahead of the curve. But, I could be wrong, I guess time will tell.

I'm not saying there might/will be an AAP store brand (time will tell) ... just saying I don't think it will be an AAP store brand made by Fram since they already have all the other Fram products for sale at AAP.
