A Shift in the French Fry Market

Lamb Weston doesn't sell to non commercial accounts or I'd buy them.

Something they may have considered before laying off a whole arm.

I was a regular customer of McDonald's hot coffee. The coffee was often good, and the price was nice. Once McDonald's offered its $5 USD meal deal, the price of coffee at many McDonalds doubled. There is no "free lunch" from the places, but there is ample smoke and mirrors.
That’s been $0.99 on the app for a year now.

People eating fewer starches cooked in oxidized vegetable oil with a side of acrylamide is not a bad thing. Surely they are all making super-healthy inexpensive meals at home now, right?

I think @vavavroom 's work buddy drives the fry market. But something doesn't add up. Did he run off with HR lady?
I presume you mean former HR lady. She's gone. She's joined the upper crust with her settlement money.

Was she looking for more varied sausages?
She prefers buns.

Could it be he tired of brown water?
He will drink anything. Cream soda is his favorite. I asked how his diabetes was. He said "It's killing me."

I know offers are regional but here in the Metropolitan Milwaukee area there are currently three fry offers in the McD app. One is for free medium fry because the Packers won, one is $1.29 any size fry and the third is free any size fry with purchase of an iced tea or soda. If you’re not using the app then you’re paying too much. I know people don’t like all the apps but it beats $5 fries.

I'm a huge fan of using all of the apps for the restaurants I go to! All summer long the McDonald's app offered up any size $1 drinks (which included my favorite, iced coffee) And every $20 I spend also gets me a free iced coffee as well (which means I'm getting a free one about every two weeks) Quite often the McDonald's app will have large fries for $3.50 (compared to $4.99 to $5.49 around here) The other day Firehouse Subs had 50% off on the app, and they are my favorite sub but I just think they are way overpriced at their normal prices.

Went for the Big Mac's last evening. They were about average in quality and freshness. My only real complaint was the TREMENDOUS amount of Mac sauce. I easily removed two level tablespoons of sauce and still probably could have removed more, as there was plenty still on the sandwich.

Although in the end it was GOOD and my dinner was probably about 375 calories after removing the center bun and all that mayochup. I added a touch of concentrated Lycopene (ketchup) before each bite and most of the devil's lettuce survived so it wasn't totally non nutritious, add in the zinc and Iron of beef. Another plus is I feel noticeably better after eating beef. It is hard to eat beef economically these days so I take advantage when deals pop up, not just at McDonalds.

Younger people are more health conscious and won't eat this crap.
Actually McDonalds fries are pretty good, no animal fat or trans fat. My dad and I used to help make fries at a large community fare about 65+ years ago. The guy we worked for was known to make the best fries in the hole PA Dutch area. They were out of this world.

I know good fries when I taste them. McDonalds fries are right up there. If you have an app you can ALWAYS get a medium fies with your meal..always.

The one thing that I like about McDonald’s fries is that I can eat them cold and they still taste good. In fact I don’t like eating them hot right out of the fryer. I always let them “breathe” a bit before digging in 🤩🍟

I loved the old style thick cut Wendy’s fries from like 25 years ago.

Those fries were soooo delicious with ketchup.

Mmmm Mmmm 🤤

A year or more ago we took our g'kids to McDonald's for burgers as a treat. The burgers were awful. We don't go to McDonald's very often but I'd have to say there is a quality control issue there somewhere.

We make fries at home quite often. We use a mandoline slicer so the slices are nice and uniform. We can make 'em chip style or fry style. We bake them in the oven. Our fries are as good as anyone's and they're really cheap.

We go to A&W once a month or so for burgers, root beer and onion rings - when we have a coupon. Comes to something like $15 for 2 with a coupon. More like $22 without a coupon. That's not cheap.
