A "Real" QD? or a bit more than a QD?

Had a free shipping (no minimum total price) deal at Autogeek and used it and got a bottle...
wonder how this will work on top of sealant....

Now all I need is motivation and time...

so, it will be:

-Auto Finesse Citrus bug/tar and rinse
-ONR wash
-Duragloss 501
-BFCS (2 coats)?
-Sonax brilliant shine (as LSP/gloss enhancer?) - also for quick refreshing between full washes/details.

Like any sealant the Crystal Seal has to be allowed time to bond and come to it's maximum shine. The difference from 2 hours after application to 12 hours + is visual, you just can't miss the difference in depth and shine. With that in mind if another CS layer is in the works do it 24 hours later. From that point on just use the Sonax to keep up appearances like after a wash or ONR session.

So IYO, the Sonax is not needed after the BFCS during this first detail? (meaning: Sonax should not be used during this first detail after BCFS, but only used it as an in-between wash item?)

But it can't hurt to already have it on the BCFS, right?

Also, what the is the best photographic/visual way to document before / after effects of a full detail on a WHITE car? Reflection pics of an LED lamp during the progress?

If you just can't stand it then use it the day after the second coat of the Crystal Seal. I'd be surprised if you saw much difference. I would use it after washes or ONR in the future. Best shots for me with white was in the sun. Walk around and look at every angle from low to high with the sun behind you. Use the flash.

Before I do my Alpine white bimmer, which I know won't show a big difference due to...WHITE, what I am going to do is a 50/50 of the hood of my wife's new 2014 Mazda 6 (blue mica) as a trial and to get a bit of practice. I know it's new but after some long trips, the paint already looks dirty and feels dull, so I think it's good candidate for a demo...

With a 50/50 detail of the hood, I will really be able to see/feel what my plan does to it. Will photo document and post 50/50 hood pics when done.

it's not - but our apartments (rent) don't allow us to do a full hose wash in the front. I hate taking the car to a car wash and then getting it all dirty again when driving home. I don't want to do the detailing at the car wash either-i like doing all that in my own garage.

I also don't like detailing / working outside where I feel people watch me - I don't like that (I know- I am weird there) i just can't concentrate.

ONR has served its purpose well so far, and it does save water in general for the planet, so...i guess I'll stick with it.
 
UPDATE:

poor Iphone pic (and used an Instagram filter to get the water beeds to stand out a bit for clarity, as it's hard to see on white)

This is with just ONR wash about 4 months ago, and Sonax Brilliant Shine quick detailer applied about 2 weeks ago. (NO waxing or anything done after that ONR wash 4 months ago.) - Recently just dusted it off with a California duster, and applied Sonax detailer right after that. (Terrible detailing ethics, I know - but I was so curious to see what the Sonax BSQD would do...): for just a QD, I think it did ok...

I think it would have done MUCH better if I had applied it right after the ONR wash...

 
Very quick spray with Auto Finesse Citrus to get mud/rain spots out, wipe, and then Sonax Brill. Shine. Done in like 10 minutes...
Not bad reflections for a WHITE car I think... ('smudge' is sensor dust)

 
Some things I would like to mention about the Sonax Brill Shine.

This 'qd' had no cleaning power whatsoever. On my white BMW, on the last occasion (reflections pic) SBS was applied AFTER a simple, but effective quick cleaning with Auto Finesse Citrus, and wiped dry, so the surface was already clean...
On the other occasion (water beading) no cleaning was done immediately prior to applying Sonax to the hood, but the car has been in the garage after an ONR wash...so it none/very little dirt on it - clean surface pretty much.

On my wife's Mazda i tried it one time on a slightly dirty/dusty surface and it made a mess - did not clean the grime/dusty areas OR bird poo - felt like I was waxing more than applying a QD - the stuff is THICK too, almost milky. I stopped immediately and used AF Citrus and water to clean it - never thought to repeat Sonax on that occasion..

My other 2 QDs i had, Poorboys'QD and Meg's Ultimate QD, BOTH are able to clean such slightly dirty surfaces and give it some shine. No cleaning with Sonax though... however, the shine and depth the Sonax gives on a clean surface seems much more impressive and durable and effective at beading water than the other 2 'normal' QDs I mentioned - So I am ok with giving a quick wipe with AF Citrus and using this to get this great result...

so yeah this looks more like a quick wax/selant type of thing now...a good one though -

however, naming it a QD is rather iffy I think, as one NORMALLY expects some cleaning ability with a QD.
 
Just got some of that sonax and the auto finesse citrus from DD.

Will put some fresh carnauba in the 240d then top it with the sonax.

But a question about the citrus cleaner. Does yours have white flakes in the bottom? Bought a 500mL and 1L bottle, they sent me three 500mL bottles, all of which have white olds at he bottom that don't dissolve when agitated. Does yours have this?
 
Yeah i had them too, and I wrote to autopia where i bought it - they said it's normal and shouldn't affect performance...
IMO it worked fine. Just shake it well before use.
