A-Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter

My understanding is that Toyota's tranny filters are not really filters, but more like a sieve, there to catch the bigger pieces of deposits.
That's why there is no schedule set-up for this. So it was related to me by my Lexus dealer when I enquired about ATF change.

My U660(?) transmission filter has some type of media beyond a screen. Most Toyota dealers don’t regularly change it unless u have been a maintenance abuser.

Order from eBay Japan much cheaper.
OEM part was $50 and in the US around $90

So no need to change it?

My Venza got Toyota dealer atf flushes at 40k, 88k and 120k. I asked the dealer to install my eBay atf filter and return the old one. It was squeaky clean. He noted minimal magnetic debris.
Read my previous post.

The car care nut says atf fluid drain and fill every 50-60k and do not change the filter.
Based on my car’s data, he is absolutely correct.

If I continue atf flushes, I probably never ever need another atf filter. Maybe at 300k.

@Pelican don’t believe ur Lexus dealer. Some Lexus dealers do an atf flush for severe service like towing a trailer. I got a Lexus dealer quote for $325. Too expensive for me.

So for my certified 2021 Lexus RX350 @17k, the Toyota dealer did a drain/fill for $90. I did provide the Lexus atf o-ring, fill/drain gaskets and 1gal of HPL green CC @$64. Yes, to the totally unnecessary boutique atf with all pao additives that has a pour point rated at minus 87F and yes to me being anal.

Total cost around $164 and still much cheaper than the Lexus ‘pursuit for perfection’ dealer.

Yes, I own both a 14 Venza and a 21 RX350. I like the 2GR V6 configuration.
