A new type of security blanket for young people?

The flip side to this are the kids who wear shorts in the middle of winter.

A couple years ago, I saw the H.S.-age kid down the street using the snowblower while wearing shorts. He'll change his mind when the wind blows it right back on him!

I don’t know about your area but in my area and where I work. I come across young people wearing hoodies and beanie caps all the time, even during summer. I would stroke out if I had a beanie hat on when it’s 95 degrees out. Is it just a fashion tread or what?
If those young people were actually having to do some work, they wouldn't be wearing a hoodie jacket in the summer time. Those are just non productive bystanders with identity issues.

There's a big difference in comfort between wearing a ballcap and a hoodie jacket during the summertime.

I’m 35, and hoodies have been a thing for a very long time. A hoodie is basically my jacket unless I need a winter coat haha.

I don’t wear them in warm weather though.
Landscapers here all wear hoodies in blistering summer heat. I once asked my brother in Louisiana, who has experience with manual labor in crazy high humidity.

His response? I'll paraphrase:

"Clothes that are saturated with sweat behave very differently from one that are dry. If you just assume your shirt will be soaked, you dress differently. It's not the hoodie, it's the hoodie OVER the shirt underneath. The hoodie gives you sun protection and the bulky loose sweatshirt lets air circulate and evaporates sweat from the saturated shirt underneath."

Basically, a hoodie is not super insulating if there's breeze or a saturated wet shirt under it.

Could be a 90deg day in the hood and you'll see fellas with hoodies sinched tight and 'rona face masks on. Usually on a squeaky, rattly bicycle too just for max efficiency.
