A new type of security blanket for young people?

I don’t know about your area but in my area and where I work. I come across young people wearing hoodies and beanie caps all the time, even during summer. I would stroke out if I had a beanie hat on when it’s 95 degrees out. Is it just a fashion tread or what?

I’m 35, and hoodies have been a thing for a very long time. A hoodie is basically my jacket unless I need a winter coat haha.

I don’t wear them in warm weather though.

I don't like hoodies because an assailant can pull it and take control during an attack. I'll wear one around my property when doing yard work but otherwise no.

I'm bald so I wear a stocking hat in the winter. If I were to wear a stocking hat in the summer I would melt.

I was just in Broward county and saw exactly that. It was blazing hot and very humid. It makes zero sense.

I guess it makes sense to them.

edit: I'm just glad I never did anything stupid like that when I was younger!

I usually wear more clothes than other people in the same weather. Some bodies just run cold. Being able to choose what clothes to wear is a hallmark of a free country.

Fashion changes over time. Us old farts don't like change like the younger whipper snappers do.

I wear a cap in the summer so my balding spot doesn't get sunburned. Caps that are mostly fabric can act as a sweat band. Visors help older eyes that are more sensitive to glare.
