I once bought an oil filter where they forgot to machine the threads in the hole! Can't remember what brand. This was 40 years ago.

Usually that is done to make drama and to support an already determined agenda.

I thought I had this happen once... turned out to be a metal porosity issue with the 2010 accent.. they had to replace the oil pump.. and some other stuff.
about 6 hours labor.. covered by warranty.

Right after oil change noticed it drip off filter... onto ground.. tightened,, still was weeping... replaced filter... still did it....

I was surprised about the fix though.

"Like"

Everything will disappoint you at least once in life given enough time. Had both a Hyundai OEM filter and WIX leak at the crimp. Did not spaz about it and replaced with a like one and moved on with life.

That's ridiculous that you took it out on them.... It should have been nothing more than saying, "hey, I just bought this filter yesterday and installed it today but it's got a hairline crack. Can I exchange it?".

And what's with all of the Fram apologists ? I use Fram myself but crap happens. Saying it happens to Wix, etc, etc just sounds petty.

Why did you do that?? Did you actually think the salespeople at the store actually made the oil filter for you?

I work in auto parts and when people are unhappy with a product they come back and like to talk to me as if I made the part myself. Most times I tell them, for instance, i say Drivework Bearings in your car??
I would get Timken or NTN or SKF or if you can't wait at least National.. Then they buy Driveworks aka Whitebox brand and the Bearing fails in 3 months... They come back and yell at me.

Plus they want $ to pay the mechanic for labor then I have to explain that we don't cover labor for warranties with parts.. It's a replacement warranty...

Then they say well I want my $ back and I have to explain its not a $ back warranty. It is a replacement warranty.

You get what you pay for...

Plain and simple...

I don't take crap off people who come in and want to scream and yell at me as if I created their problem.

I've had startup knock happen to me with a PH4967 just the other day ago, I think I might gotten a filter with a ADBV that wasn't sealing, though it shouldn't matter on this car(Toyota, filter is mounted upright). The filter had barely 1K on it. I swapped it out for an OEM filter but with mass-produced goods things happen.

I'll keep on using Frams, while my first choice is OEM, at least Fram isn't plagued with QC issues like Puro.

More like sounds realistic, because every brand has some kind of issue once and awhile as shown by members posting here.

Didn't say it doesn't happen to other producers. Wasn't really the point either though....

Thats why I ike the filter installation in both my Subaru's. Leave it to subaru to be innovative. I put in a Fram Ultra the day I got it home.

Saying it happens to other brands isn't "petty" like you think ... it's realistic. Why woukd it be petty to mention other brand issues seen here?

I usually let my engine run for ~ 5 minutes and check for any leaks, then put the under cover back on.The job wasn't complete until the new filter is checked for leaks. Ed

That was oil change 101 in shop class. After changing the oil and filter run the engine and check for leaks before driving away.

I just noticed that they changed the design of their air filters. No more rubber seal running around the perimeter of the filter. I thought someone changed them out with a ST or a cheapie online one and switched it out. But I saw printed on the filter the Fram info. Although they do look similar to the oem ones.

Lol you must of just read one line of my reply? Here it is again "honestly was so mad I just vented to the store I bought it from. Not because it was there fault just wanted to let them know what happened. They made things right though." Did not yell or scream like I said I know it wasn't their fault I was just telling them what happened and they made things right.

Once again read my whole reply not one sentence. "honestly was so mad I just vented to the store I bought it from. Not because it was there fault just wanted to let them know what happened. They made things right though."like I said I know it wasn't their fault. I did not yell and scream I told them what happened and they made things right.
