Just another day at the house. After pruning back and thinning a MASSIVE oleander bush, I rebuilt five sections of the post and rail fence that were near it. I got a nice case of poison oak for my labors. My arms have it as bad as my legs.

I know the feelin', man. Calamine lotion. Try not to scratch, makes it itch more. I always wear jeans and long sleeves.

I recently bought some coveralls for running the weedwacker, as I was tired of my clothing becoming coated in grass clippings. I've been reusing mine, although they tear easily; ironically, grass doesn't stick to it. Here it might work as one time use. Make sure to still wear gloves.

Good idea, but it also looks like you have a basement meth lab. :ROFLMAO:

Don't suffer too much a quick prescription will get rid of it fast.
(which I can do over phone with teladoc)

I tried for a month with OTC stuff...... then 5 days and it was gone.

I think the rule with any of these poison plants is to wash the skin with soap and water asap before the plant oil has a chance to penetrate the skin.

I can’t even look at poison ivy without breaking out. Yes, get some prescription strength meds to knock it out. The longer you have the rash the more of a chance of infection. I pulled a dead vine out of a tree (45 years ago) and it fell around my neck. I looked like a burn victim. Even dead stuff is still potent.

not a doc but prednisone(pill) or
Hydrocortisone 2.5% ointment, Triamcinolone 0.1% cream or ointment, and Clobetasol 0.05% cream
are all commonly prescribed.

If you know you are exposed, washing up with Tecnu will help keep you from breaking out, or will reduce symptoms dramatically. It is a specialized detergent that will actually remove urushiol (the active irritant) from your skin. Don't ask how i know about it.

I had no idea there was poison oak there. We've lived in this house for 21 years. It's a one acre lot but I've "worked" every square foot, except this one little area on our northwest corner. There was a big white oleander there, needing nothing and thriving in a relatively hostile spot on our property. I never paid attention to it, and it never needed anything, but it was simply getting too big. I'm talking a 15 foot by 15 foot area, literally the only area I've never worked since living here. I never imagined there would be poison oak in there.
