helo everyone

I'm planning to use auto rx on my accord

f22b1 SOHC Vtec engine
Quote:
Specifications

* Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 95.0 mm
* Displacement: 2156 cc
* Valve Configuration: SOHC, 16 valves, VTEC
* Compression ratio: 8.8:1
* Max power: 145 hp (108 kW) @ 5500 rpm
* Max torque: 147 ft·lbf (199 N m) @ 4500 rpm

163000KM (101300Miles)
no oil burn
require 4.5qts oil for oil change

Right now i'm using Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 in the engine w/ honda filter

for the best result of using Auto RX
do i need to use whole bottle of Auto RX?
which oil should I use?

- Castrol GTX 5W30?
- Pennzoil Platinum 5W30?
- Mobil 1 5W30? (got 5qts @ home)
- Motul V8100 5W30?

thank you

Probably because until recently, a whole bottle wasn't always instructed to be used as it depended upon the sump size.

Thx everyone
I'll use GTX or sth similar

Frank, I'm going to do it 2 times, so don't worry about that

Quote:
1. Change oil and filter + AutoRX
2. Drive 2500miles
3.Change oil and filter
4 Drive 3000miles
then repeart 1~4

The reason I asked about using whole bottle or not, because I heard its upto the engine size.

If 1 bottle of AutoRX can clean up a 4 Liters V8 engine, then 1 bottle of AutoRX should be more than enough to clean up a 1.5 I4 engine.

or the other way around

If
1 bottle of AutoRx can only clean up a 1.5 I4 engine, then a 4L V8 would require more than 1 bottle.

I ask because I wanna make sure I do it right

so i did a wet/dry compression test today(30KM after oil change w/ ARX)

------dry-wet
cyl 1 182 190
cyl 2 180 186
cyl 3 180 180
cyl 4 180 187

I took 2 pics before i put oil in

hopefully after the autorx treatment I'll have a better compression result

wow your engine looks super clean. what oil have you been using for its life? i dont even see why u need any treatments. inside looks clean and compression is excellent.

I bought this car (second owner)in Aug 06 & it was so dirty inside (142000KM/88234Miles )
the original owner goes back to honda dealer every 6000KM/ 3728Miles

I did oil change & filter every 3000KM/1864Miles w/ Castrol GTX or Pennzoil yellow 5w30 (the first few months i even do 1000KM/621Miles or 1500KM/932Miles oil change & filter)

after a while the used oil is still clean after 3000KM
then I change to Pennzoil Platinum 5w30(I did used Mobil 1 once) & change it w/ new filter every 3000KM
the synthetic oil get really dirty after 3000KM

I have been using synthetic oil for the last 3 times
& recently my friend Quest(yes he is on this board) told me about AutoRx
So I get 1 bottle from him & give it a try, cos i do believe its still dirty inside the engine

I know alot of ppl don't agree what I'm doing
but my engine is smoother & cleaner than before

Don't worry, I used ARX in my '95 Integra (built in '94) even though it was clean inside, and it never consumed any oil or leaked any oil or anything. It can only help :) And don't worry about your engine either, it's not dirty inside, that's for sure. My car was always changed between 3-5k using whatever the dealership had. More often than not, it was every 5,000 miles or 6 months just using conventional. Since I've owned it, I've switched it over to synthetics.

BTW Quest is a great guy, I'm sure he'll lead you in the right direction with your Honda. He knows a lot about 'em.
