$85 for an oil change? No thank you!

That is an excellent point.

I enjoy shopping in at Walmart when I visit the US and just this past weekend, acquired 8 - 5qt jugs of M1 0W-20 @ $24.50 each. These jugs are hard to find. I bought whatever stock they had left at 2 different WMs and was only able to find 8 total.

Pep Boys and O'Reilly's had 1qt of M1 0W-20 for just a little over $8 each.

In Canada, Walmart and Canadian Tire has PP 0W-20 at $9.50 each.

My suggestion is to trade it in for a 2005 Corolla. Seriously.. what did you expect for a synthetic oil change from a Lexus dealer? $85 is what I'd expect. It's $120-140 at BMW and Benz dealers. If you're already upset at the costs for just an oil change, you're not going to be happy down the road with ownership of a vehicle in this price class when you have a REAL problem.

I never did understand how you can buy a 50,000 dollar car with all the stuff that comes with them, and then complain about 50, 60, 80, 100 dollar bills a couple times a year.

Same reason my cousin no longer drives a Volvo S40. $92 oil changes were a bit too much. She got enough to pay it off and put cash out for a mid-90s Cherokee. It's ugly. It gets 5mpg less than the Volvo. The AC doesn't work well. But it's so darn easy to maintain and she does her own oil changes now. With a straight six there's so much more room to work on it.

Makes me wish I had dropped a six-cylinder engine in my Torino instead of the 351C I found. I'll keep my eye out for one of those 78-83 200cid engines that used the Windsor bell pattern and see if I can score some 72-74 six cylinder engine mounts. The biggest problem I see is fitting a converter to it since they stopped making the 6cyl Torinos the same year the converters went on. Maybe a Granada front pipe would work or I could go custom. Then again maybe the 250cid engine would be more appropriate for the two ton beast. Or a 240cid engine, they used those in Fairlane/Torino and Galaxies around 69-71 or so. Gear drive, too, no timing chain.

You`ll use more gas trying to pull that beast with an underpowered motor like that. And it would take 2 miles to get up to 70mph.

well i put off a oil change on my sons 2001 ranger for 8000 miles. the oil tech said it only had 1 1/2 qts. i guess i dodged a bullet. my truck is next, week.

I change my own oil. I use Redline 5w30 and a Mobil 1 filter and it still costs me $75. If you have a nice car like a Lexus you don't want to cheap out. A good synthetic and quality filter is going to run at least $50 in materials alone. Change it yourself or don't whine as $85 isn't too bad these days.
