8 popular GM oil filters cut open & compared. 2 Clear Winners.

I know this. On Blackstone UOA´s, I´ve consistently seen the lowest insolubles percentage using Fram Ultras. Usually .1 with an occasional .2. Others have mostly been .3 (Mobil 1, Purolator, Supertech, others) with an occasional .2.

Even though Ascent testing was over 2 years ago its the only independent testing the general forum has been privy to.
With the changes to the Fram lineup - sure there is some uncertainty there, but they claim the new media is even more efficient (specifically about the ultra).

I cannot stress enough, as i did in the other thread, we cannot even begin to make assumptions about pressure drop based on filtration area/number of pleats. The media type by and large is going to be the biggest factor. And we just don't know what we're looking at in that regard.
I will say that when comparing the Fram endurance to the Fram titanium: the titanium is both taller, and has a significantly greater pleat depth, so the surface area of the titanium is very significantly greater than the endurance. The titanium media is also thicker/has more depth than the endurance.

You’ve got to place a LOT of stock in the superiority of the endurance media to maintain that it’s a better filter than the titanium. And it may be!!

It’ll be interesting to see if this still holds true with the new Ultra media that looks very similar to the Mobil 1.

Did you actually measure the total media area of them?

I just stretched them out on the floor next to each other. The difference is very significant. I’ll get an exact measurement this evening.
