I too have PADI rescue diver cert, and I enjoy SCUBA. You are much better off in a wet suit than a flooded dry suit. In a wet suit, you can surface like a cork. In a flooded dry suit, even if you shed weight, it is not easy to get up. It is also not as though you can doff the thing yourself! However, in an intact dry suit, you can dive under ice in great comfort. Been there, and done that, and it was neat.
Do you still dive? It is an entertaining weekend activity, and you can share it with the wife.
