6.0 powerstroke for a forever truck

I bought a 2007 F-350 King Ranch with the 6.0 last summer for towing my camper. My 05 with the 5.4 was definitely not up to it. This was a one owner truck, and it came from Montana where they don't use salt on the roads, so it has no rust. Interior is also in nearly perfect condition. I kind of feel bad driving it in the snow and salt now. The engine was freshly rebuilt, heads studded, EGR delete, new oil cooler, etc. I installed a coolant filter right away after buying it. I don't think this thing was ever really even used as a truck before I bought it. It has a B&W gooseneck hitch, but it had a bedliner put in over it and also had a fiberglass tonneau cover on it. I pulled the ball out and it looks like it's never been used. The factory reciever hitch looked like it had maybe only ever been used a couple times. I've put almost 10,000 miles on it so far and I absolutely love the truck. Tows my camper effortlessly, just set the cruise control and you could totally forget you're towing anything. At $19,000 I paid a bit of a premium for this truck over some others I had looked at, but it was well worth it considering the excellent condition and the work that was done.

I know many used car places that will not even take vehicles in trade that have been deleted, because they know how expensive the systems are to replace to make the truck legal, which is what they have to do to sell them. EGR coolers are small in comparison to DPFs, SCR systems, etc, so an EGR wouldn't be that noticeable. Most of the guys who do emissions deletes on their truck also do other mods to blow smoke and attract attention like muffler deletes and offroad tunes.

Is it likely you will be stopped? Probably not, but it only takes one person having a bad day to report you. I know in CT they impound your truck and you pay fines, in addition to having to replace the missing emissions components and having the truck inspected before it can be back on the road.

The truck should not be impounded. It should be seized and crushed, with the owner charged for the disposal.
