I ordered a new F150 XL on February 15th 2024 paid $500 down good faith money. I was told I would have it in two or three months. I didn't hear anything from Ford until the end of August telling me that it would be put into production on September 9th. A few days later the date was changed to September the 16th and then a few days later it was changed to October the 24th. I don't think Ford really wants to build this truck as it is an XL with only one upgrade, a chrome package. I don't understand how it could take so long to build this truck. I have talked to the Ford Reps and it hasn't done any good. I would love to buy one off the lot and have spent a lot of time lookin on my computer, but haven't found anything. Most of the in stock trucks are fully loaded extended or crew cabs and I want a RCSB truck. By the time it is built, shipped and delivered it will be 9 or 10 months which seems ridiculous. Ram doesn't make a short bed standard cab and Chevrolet's only comes with the 4 cylinder. Anyone ever had this problem?

you're basically ordering a unicorn, most regular cab work trucks are the 6.5' bed. so looking for a short bed work truck is like finding the holy grail.

Just curious, when updates are given, are they from the dealership, or Ford Motor Co.? I've always wondered how ordering works outside of German cars, where the mfg. knows the name etc. of the person who placed the order, and who's allocation it is.

I know with Japanese I was told an order is between dealer and customer, not dealer and mfg. If it's dealer and customer, then, it makes me wonder if it's the dealer, not the mfg. who's playing games.

  • Eight-foot Box
I found this on a dealer website: https://www.lathamfordmotors.com/ford-research/ford-f-150-bed-size/
If you ordered a 5.5 foot bed, you're out of luck because it is a unicorn.

They may not run many of that model and thats the hold up. By the time any info goes through the dealer they have added their spin to it so who really knows whats going on.

I assume at this point the truck will be a 2025. On a positive if it ever gets built and is a 2025, it could have some reliability upgrades on say the 10 speed automatic, engine, who knows. I'd wait it out. It'll be a rare truck and something to be proud of.

Hang in there, you ordered something they don't really want to make, as more profitable trucks are coming down the line first.

Is your dealer any good? IE are they struggling to get their allocation? They have to sell a lot of turkeys to get the good stuff.

It is for a 6.5 bed. Standard cab only comes in 6.5 or 8 feet. The truck is considered Ford's muscle truck. That's why I want it, life is too short to drive a slow truck.
But apparently long enough to wait 9 months for one...;)

Seriously though, they know you really, really want it since you haven't cancelled your order yet, so they don't care apparently. I would buy another truck from someone else, even if it wasn't exactly what i wanted, simply out of principle at this point.
If they treat you this badly when you're buying and wanting to give them your money, imagine how they will treat you when something goes wrong?
