Why would you intentionally run it 1 quart low?

I just dump the whole thing in. Some people run 6qts in Chryslers like mine, so the extra 1/4 qt is just gravy.

Yeah I think he is...

Isn't 5.1 Qts equivalent to 5 Litres?

This was the industry can use only one container which saves them money.

It depends on the model years.

If it is an 07 or later the original AC Delco PF48 fits, but a PF63 will screw on as well. The PF 63 is around inch or so longer than the PF48.

If it is a model prior to 2007 most take the PF46 but a PF61 will fit on these as well. The PF 61 is a little less than an inch longer.

The 5+ qts jugs are great for those 4 qt systems that often need a topoff between OCI's or for those members that like to use the extra oil in small equipment.

Hay, the price is right!...Right?

I usually dump all the extra oil from a 5 quart jug into another container. Eventually you have enougth to do all the tractors, snowblowers, etc. LOL... Wonder what it is after I blend 20, 30, 40 weight oils. Oh well.

Hello, That's what I do. I was only kidding when I said I run my car (6.1 qt. capacity) low. To me oil is a product I buy at a $/qt. price. How it is bottled is of little difference to me. What is notable is the fact that some 5+ jugs are/were 5.1 qt. and others are/were 5.28. A pal and I came up with a name for our mixed, leftover oil. We call it "multi-weight". Kira

As long as the car is between the "Full" and "Add" lines are you OK for most vehicles.

I typically don't add oil until I hit the Add line myself....

The 2 cars I've had, actually do not recommend adding oil UNTIL you hit the "Add" line......likely due to the fact that you're better off (safer..) under-filling the engine, than OVER-filling the engine.....

I believe the hype

I save a few empty 1 qt oil containers and dump any left over oil from a 5 QT jug into one (or more) to use for the next oil change (or for topping up, but none of my current vehicles need any oil between changes).

If you have a Walmart nearby, the cost savings with the 5 Qt jugs is significant. They even beat Costco's price per quart on Mobil 1 as Costco sells a case of 6 1 qt bottles.

But, what I like best about the 5 Qt jugs is they're the perfect container to dump the old oil into for recycling. Trying to refill 1 qt bottles without overflowing them is not worth the hassle.
