5+ qt jugs

is Autozones extra .28 qt in their 5+ jugs overkill for must engnies requiring 5 qts or should I contiune to buy single qts.

Nothing wrong with having a bit extra for top-off, in my opinion. Most of the oil change deals allow you to get the "5+" jug or 5 individual 1 quart jugs.

I'd dump the entire "5+ quarts" in an engine that required 5 quarts.

its actually 5L jug

The parts stores in my area seem to have "downgraded" to 5.1 quart jugs. It doesn't affect me either way.

It's interesting that when most companies have been downsizing how much they give you (mainly the food industry) to avoid price increases, the oil industry is now giving you more!

5L is 5.6% more than 5qt. Was there some sort of saving in packaging / supply chain that saved 5.6% of the oil cost by moving to and filling 5L jugs?

if you run a larger filter like i do the car usually takes a little more oil than the manual states anyway. so it's perfect for me.

Also, maybe it's a ploy to keep you buying the same oil. You only need 5qts so you have .28qts left and so you decide to buy the same oil again.

After 17 more oils changes, you can escape the cycle.

I think we have an answer here. Some folks believe switching oil brands is death for the engine.

My car takes 4.5 quarts and i like having the extra .5 in a single quart bottle. So when given the choice, i always prefer single quarts.

Like mentioned, a liter is about a qt, but is larger.
The 5+ qts jugs are 5 liters.

Normally I buy a 5+ Qt jug of oil, get that extra incase of burn off/leaking/etc, My truck takes 4 qts, so every 4 oc's I get a "free" oil one...

Wal-Mart has a patent on 5 qrt jugs, IIRC (BITOG discussion a while, while back). 5 Liter jugs are used as a way around it.

i would pour 5l into a 5q sump.
