$300/mo Tesla 3 Lease has me thinking about taking the plunge

Great post, great deal, for the heck of it if I just didn’t buy a new car last November, I would’ve taken the deal for two years just for fun. Though it is true my wife wanted a larger stance SUV.

Roughly $9,200 to drive an electric vehicle for two years and turn it in, sweet.
I see people posting different prices. Maybe it’s depending on the area you are in.
In my area, you can get the 349 lease deal, Update, no you can’t) . The details are showing $370 first month payment.
I took the advice of somebody else in here, and I clicked on the box to see actual costs. I noticed the 349 advertisement is listed as an estimate.

The only catch I see here is Tesla is charging you $695 lease acquisition fee. Once I clicked on the box to include estimated taxes and fees, this is what I got below. So maybe it’s a big catch with the extra costs put in here in a first monthly payment of $370 coming up.

It always says estimate until you make the deal official. If you select those options and get approved for the quoted rate, it'll be that amount. For example I got a promotional interest rate with my Y and it was spot on for my payment estimate. Of course if someone didn't qualify for that rate, it would go up.

They are miserable without home charging. Rent one for a week and try it.

Good point
Ive already got my electrician going over to my house next week to install everything necessary for the home install. I just need to pick a charger down the line. I forgot to mention, we already have a Level 2 charger at my office. Ive never used it but id have to check. I dont go to the office often though.

You don't have to use a charger; All you need is a 240V NEMA 14-50 recepticle.
I charged with the Mobile Cable for the first few years; then I installed the Tesla Wall Charger.

Does the lease term include "potential fuel saving" BS they put on the website for purchase?

I think there's an option to calculate that, but I've never seen it select it by default. Then again that might be because my account always stays logged in and it remembers I don't want that selected.

I had an Uber ride the other day in a model S.... the driver has a 3 too and he said he was a Tesla buyer for life... I saw a used 2022 with only 4k miles... interesting

The prices I have posted does not reflect that
However, there is a box you could check if you wanted it included
That used to drive me crazy that they automatically included it in the past, I don’t know if this is a change of policy or not

I have always thought Tesla's site was lame, at best, to calculate price with those boxes checked by default. Bait and switch...

Now, in most cars, advertised price is a starting point at best. Hardly clear.

What's a poor boy to do?

no i dont want an ev, same reason i dont know how long i plan on staying in my home to invest in installing an ev charger. even though i could run the circuit and do the installation myself. many would say it would be a possible selling incentive.. also electric rates are JACKED my way.
EVs aren't going away, they make too much sense in many locations. Unless you live in ranch country with little to no population density, the cost of EV charging install at home is almost fully recovered in home value increase.

Within many of our lifetimes, home EV charging might be viewed as electricity and indoor plumbing once were-- a previous luxury now considered a necessity.

I'm not chomping at the bit to get an EV, but I'm pretty confident that home EV charging setups are a question of "when" more than "if" in large swaths of the USA with higher population density.

I'm just as confident there are major sections of the USA where EVs will never catch on.

Yep. In my case, the EV was part of a larger, long term plan that started with the solar project. The plan was to minimize cost over the long term. It has far exceeded expectations.

This is small town Wisconsin, but this shows you the rates on my 3 Teslas for the total 6 month premium.

To me this is inadequate insurance. Not that is matters to some but I wouldnt feel comfortable driving around with coverage this low.
Bodily injury if someone without insurance is limited to $25,000 and an underinsured only $50,000 and if you injure someone, only $100,000. Everything else is frivolous, medical payments, road service, car rental etc. anyone can afford that stuff.
It's the 5 and 6 figure liability numbers that can really put a dent in ones savings.

Here is my wife's 2025 = 6 month premium and coverage. Only $343.00 for six months and up to $500,000 per accident for liability, uninsured and underinsured motorists. I would review what you have.
You will see "Uninsured" " No coverage" that is because it is contained under "Uninsured/Underinsured" I guess a standard form from progressive for all states might vary.

PS, Tesla should use you for an advertisement!!! Wow!

$185/mo in California. Tesla Insurance. Hope I never need to use it, I had a question about my policy and was on hold for three hours. Gave up.
