$300/mo Tesla 3 Lease has me thinking about taking the plunge

I ask prospective buyers the following:
  • How ya gonna charge and do you have room in your service panel if you need a new circuit?
  • You know these cars are expensive, right?
FYI, the Model 3 fits my use case, but I am a bit of an extreme case. Gas is expensive here and I have solar panels. I can't see myself buying anything else, unless it is a pickup. Heck, I just wasted an hour and $50 getting our GS350 smogged. PITA!

As @buster suggested, perhaps check out the used market; you might do pretty well. You sure can around here!
Where did you find $50 smog in the South Bay? I want to know

Installing a charger for a Model 3 is not that expensive. My Model 3 came with a charge cord (which is now an extra cost). But all you need other than that is a nearby 240 Volt outlet (40 or ideally 50 Amps) like you would have for an electric stove. That's it.

My 240 Volt 40 Amp outlet cost $500 Cdn for parts and labour. I had my regular electrician install it. A Model 3 only charges at a maximum of 32 Amps so a 40 Amp circuit should be adequate. I've adjusted my Tesla's charging rate down to 25 Amps when charging at home, so a 40 Amp circuit is overkill.

I think having you own place to charge is critical. Charging at a Supercharger is a lot more expensive and probably inconvenient (I don't really know, I never do it). Except for our trip to Saskatoon a couple of years ago we never charge anywhere other than at home.

For a purchase in Canada you have to consider both range and cold weather performance. We live on the west coast so cold weather is not an issue, electricity is cheap here, and distances are fairly short.

But then again my great nephew who lives in Saskatoon (cold weather) owns a Tesla, has no place to charge at home, charges only at work (120 Volt plug in), drives frequently to Edmonton (550 km each way) and really likes it.

Used Teslas are probably cheap in Canada right now and you might even score a charging cord in the deal. The base Model 3 (the SR+) works perfectly well for us. There's no need for two motors on our ice free roads and the performance is already terrific.

Is there an income limit for the $7500 incentive in the U.S.?

Love mine! Favorite car I’ve ever owned! Use a referral link to get 3 months of free FSD ;)

The problem I have now is I can’t imagine not having a Tesla and it’s basically ruined my interest in any other brand of car lol.
Same. Just ordered the new Juniper Y AWD for my wife. I was surprised when she brought it up. I should have it in a couple of weeks. I’m still waiting on a trade in value from them on the Model 3 to see if it’s going to Tesla or Carvana.

As far as referral codes go anyone with a Tesla can get you one. Plenty of us here!

If you don’t drive much 120V will keep it topped up at home. Even better if you have 220v-240v outlet in your garage. I use a mobile charger setup off of a 14-30 plug and charge at 24a. That’s enough to support both my Teslas at a combined 30k miles a year.

Have you driven a Rivian or Lucid by chance?
Have you considered a Polestar? Everyone I've talked with that has a Rivian loves theirs. The Lucids fit and finish is miles above Tesla but so is the price. I try to avoid products with blatant bad designs. If the 12 volt battery dies in a model y then good luck getting it open. The Autopian highlighted how a neighbor cracked her drivers window due to a bad design.
Model y window breaks due to bad design

If it ever gets to production, someday I'd like to get an Aptera car. It is a thing of engineering beauty imo. We don't have kids, so we don't need more than 2 seats.

Supposedly the Aptera is "Coming this year" I think the design was finalized and maybe production is starting soon. It's definitely a niche market vehicle.

Hopefully, but I'd be surprised if they have all the funding that they need. But then again, I've been out of the loop on them for the last couple months or so.

I would add biting the bullet so to speak on a home charging solution will save you time and long term will save you money if you continue buying EVs.

Anybody else considering?

I can easily keep it under 10,000 miles a year. Not sure I want to deal with installing a charger or changing my home elect plan for at home charging. Honestly, that's what's preventing me from biting the bullet.
Great post, great deal, for the heck of it if I just didn’t buy a new car last November, I would’ve taken the deal for two years just for fun. Though it is true my wife wanted a larger stance SUV.

Roughly $9,200 to drive an electric vehicle for two years and turn it in, sweet.
I see people posting different prices. Maybe it’s depending on the area you are in.
In my area, you can get the 349 lease deal, Update, no you can’t) . The details are showing $370 first month payment.
I took the advice of somebody else in here, and I clicked on the box to see actual costs. I noticed the 349 advertisement is listed as an estimate.

The only catch I see here is Tesla is charging you $695 lease acquisition fee. Once I clicked on the box to include estimated taxes and fees, this is what I got below. So maybe it’s a big catch with the extra costs put in here in a first monthly payment of $370 coming up.

Here is the actual payment for this area.
