3.0 Ecoboost Oil Recommendations - 1st 1 asking?

I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0T (Lincoln doesn't want you to say Ecoboost anymore). I bought it used CPO with 35k on the clock and am certain that it has been maintained with Motorcraft 5-30 partial synthetic blend. I am looking to do my first oil change soon and I thought I would check with the oil experts on this site to see what could be best with this engine.

I searched around and didn't see anything for this exact engine. Am I the first one asking? It is based off of the 2.7 ecoboost that is in the F150, Edge, and now Fusion. With 400hp it's definitely more tuned for performance than economy. I drive in harsh city conditions in the Chicago area with a range of harsh winters and decently hot summers. I may potentially put an aftermarket tune on this engine but for now, lets just say it will stay stock. No towing or anything with this engine. Just lots of stop and go, intermixed with some spirited driving.

Was thinking of going regular Mobil 1 full synthetic. Maybe Royal Purple? Although RP doesn't seem to get a lot of love. I am thinking no more than 45 bucks for 6 qt case (Mobil 1 at Costco for 36 for case). I would like to get 5-6k an oil change. I will probably blackstone the 1st (Motorcraft) and 2nd (whatever oil I chose) just to see the protection level. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

Wow, a lot of miles for a 2017 Lincoln. Was it a rental prior to your purchase?

It's born date was 3/30/2016. After doing some digging it was either a Ford Program car or Executive fleet car. That's how I know it was serviced with Motorcraft. It was bought in Dearborn at auction. On the 2nd key FOB, it had a sticker that said if lost please return to Ford with a Dearborn address so what that matched with what the dealer said. I am guessing it was probably beat on pretty good but maintained very well. I know with a lot of the newer model cars, engineers do a lot of the maintenance and to make sure everything is up to snuff.

Buy a thincker Motorcraft (or Mobil 1 High Mileage or Pennzoil High Mileage) oil and filter. People have been having problems with fuel diluting the oil on those ecoboost engines. They are exciting engines, you just need to be extra careful.

Castrol Magnatec 5w30. Look up ecoboost motors with used oil analysis done on here. Magnatec has done the best at holding it's viscosity up after 4-5k miles.

I bought a 2014 MKS 3.5 e/b two weeks ago. 27k miles, 3 year personal lease, serviced at dealer. Salesman said they put Motorcraft 5w20 in everything. I said 'doesn't ford recommend 5w30 specifically for this engine?" He said they haven't had any problems.
That said, I am changing the oil this weekend in true BITOG fashion. Two cartons of M1 in the basement but think I will try Castrol Magnatec synthetic 5w30 for the first change, and at $17.88 (Walmart) it's half of the Mobil 1. Fuel dilution is something that gets talked about and Castrol supposedly is a little better in that category.
There are also ecoboost forums that will have additional information.

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 3.5 HTHS. It's almost a 40 and low VII and noack. The regular Mobil 1 10w30 is also very good. Unless you're getting under 0F 10w30 is fine and you get a stronger oil imo

I bet it hauls. I have a fusion and drool over the new models on a regular basis

with the TGDI you'll be best with Castrol 0/40 A3/B4, keep an eye on the dip stick.

Ford has run the EB brand across so many different engines, I've lost track. But I've yet to see any reason why different motors should be treated differently.

I've posted two UOI's here on 4,500 mile cycles using Mobil 1 5w30. I don't have any signs of fuel dilution and wear metals are low, but the oil did shear down and is at the lower end of the viscosity range. Magnatec is the current forum favorite for the EB for good reason. There are multiple used oil analysis posted with higher mileage cycles and fuel dilution and the oil held up very well. I'll probably try it once I burn through my current oil inventory. Motorcraft oil has a good reputation here, but very few used oil analysis posted from the EB.

Overall there don't seem to be any bad oils for the EB, but my mantra is run a 5,000 OCI and perform a used oil analysis to see how the oil is working in your specific motor. Then you can adjust accordingly...

When I hear EcoBoost I think Castrol Magnatec 5W30, it has performed well in these EB engines.

Thanks for your suggestions! It's a toss up between the Mobil 1 5w30 and Magnatec 5w30. I will do a blackstone test to see which holds up better. One last question, do folks recommend changing weights for winter seasons. It has the potential to get cold here. I was thinking with a Full Sythetic that it wouldn't matter that much but I'm sure it probably does.

In Illinois a 5w30 synthetic oil is perfectly fine in winter.
Mobil 1 0W-40 is a double edged sword in this aspect, in Illinois with a 0W oil you won't have to worry even in the coldest winter mornings, and 40 grades work perfectly OK in Ecoboost engines aswell as they can be tough on their oil because of high temps and fuel dilution which is a common "issue" with Direct Injection engines.
