I couldn't agree more seeing the "trucks" rolling around here in the deep south and the creatures driving them.I sold several 2021 Ridgelines when I worked for Honda last year. It is a very good vehicle and yes it is a TRUCK. I know many insecure people who can't get over the fact that this is a truck though it may not fall under their definition of what a "real truck" might be. I am of the opinion that a "real truck" is usually something that is compensating for something else

Body/ frame type isnt part of the definition of a truck.
No one said it was a half ton ? - It's a midsized truck.
The Maverick and the Santa Cruz are also unibody trucks ( trend - midsized is moving to unibody) using your definition they aren't trucks either.
This kind of nonsense isnt helpful - I could say a half ton truck isnt a truck and that my F450 is a truck and on an on.....to a semi.

Ridgelines look sweet with tasteful lift kits and conservative off-road packages.
Trucks are like hammers. You have all sizes really.
To some extent they are interchangeable but when you fit the right truck to the right job you are better off.

I knew a gravel/asphalt Salesman who used to put about 400k miles on his before trading them. Loved his Ridgelines and panicked when they dropped it during the re-design for those couple of years.
One thing the other trucks do not have (and couldn't do) is that huge in-bed container/cooler. Tailgate win!

I recently passed the 100K mark.
8 years in I had one post warranty problem I had to pay to diagnose /fix - the capacitive door handle shorted out and created parasitic drain.
Still best all rounder I've owned.
It delivers mid sized truck work, drivetrain versatility while being fast, quiet , comfy and running cheap on the highway.

I gotta admit, the lines on this one look really good. It seems to have a similar shape to the newer rams, just smaller. Best looking RL to date.
Honda usually does really well with interior packaging - I wonder how they did on this one.
Now, if they made it in RWD I’d start getting really serious. I still prefer RWD in general.

It sounds like the new Ridgeline will have a beefed up version of the 4 cylinder Accord hybrid setup. Probably will look like the current Pilot or Passport. Any new design will be aligned with their global light truck platform. Likely no new V6 or V8. They are not working on a longer bed either because they would have to totally rethink how they would manufacture the truck.
