2025 so far EV sales up 28%

And understand I’m talking US only.

I get about 10 videos of Tesla damage a day and none of the cars have US plates.

So Even When you have individuals with 100+ counts of vandalism?

Even when you have a small number of real damages (fires, broken stuff, smashed) but a large number of scratches and paint swipes?

Also when close to 80,000 not-Tesla cars are vandalized in general per year…

Also the list of individuals being charged has mostly been <25 with many under 18, very few voted in the last election, many identifying as independents / non-affiliated , some being supportedly conservative.

The Tesla “protests” in this area at least have been hospice and geriatrics oxygen tanks and all with signs, so it’s doubtful those folks are committing vandalism off their wheelchairs.

I don’t think the reality of an unsorted group of a-political angry youth aligns well with the narrative being presented. Age and income have more to do than other factors.

I would lean more to this being a class based riot with foreign agitators
even though the only thing that groups these people is 4chan as outside a couple people they aren’t organized and it’s completely random.

Add to this Tesla vandalism has been in my feed pretty steady for at least 8 years, usually at charging stations in the past.

So we went and picked up our Tesla this afternoon. A handful of dimwits were 'protesting' on the sidewalk. Guess what their signs said, and what they yelled? Suffice it to say they made it clear where their psychosis lies. Several even sported failed-campaign shirts. :ROFLMAO:
These 'protestors' all appeared to be middle aged or older.

I thought about walking over and handing them a box of tissues.

If there is still a list of Tesla owners out there, and where they live being circulated for nefarious purposes, they'll be disappointed that ours is a consulting business vehicle, and the mailing address for the business is a PO Box...

I think I'll pick up a Toyota badge to stick on the car, to fool would-be vandals. 😁

Now I really want to see it, especially if you got the Arachnid wheels. That color looks killer on everything.

Kind of weird, but I understand. I've had a lot of weird stuff get deleted too even when I thought it was mild.

I'll consider posting pics. I know @JeffKeryk saw the deleted Motorcycle pic post as the last I saw, he reacted to it. Maybe comments in the thread went south later. Who knows. But it doesn't inspire the desire to share when the pics are liable to just go away.

Anyway, it has the Arachnid wheels, cream interior, yoke, and full self-driving. Well see how it goes. The wife drove it home.

Directly damaging owner's cars isn't going to end well for people vandalizing cars.

We obviously don't agree on a lot of issues, but at least these idiots were just protesting and not lighting cars on fire. I still don't want to deal with them if I have to go to a service center.

The crowds I’ve seen protesting have all been old or ancient, both online and in person, I should take a photo next time I drive that way of our locals, looks like they evacuated the hospice.

The people I see being arrested, mostly are young with a couple outliers that are actual professionals.

The people protesting aren’t the people driving around damaging cars.
A few individuals have a hundred counts against them.

This is no different than other past protests. A few bad apples would drive cross country to light up things, same bs now.

For sure. It's a fringe set of nuts doing damage.

Most of the videos I've seen of morons being caught on the cameras of the actual Teslas they're keying or otherwise vandalizing, show people in their 50's or older. The same demographic who were yelling vile things to people (us) they don't even know, earlier today.

I didn't mention that the dealership apparently had to clean up graffiti on their building, earlier in the day.

I can't imagine how pathetic it must be to be near or over retirement age, and STILL not possessing any more intelligence or ethics than a juvenile delinquent.

I enjoyed the video of the woman chasing a guy with a red baseball cap [political] down the subway platform. She ended up falling face first onto the concrete platform rearranging her face. Karma took care of her. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. I'm not a fan of EV's but destroying someone's property or trying to inflict harm on someone minding their own business is wrong on every level, and long term prison sentences are in order.

The lack of intelligence among the population never ceases to amaze me. Almost all these protesters and terrorist activities are controlled by someone smarter than them. They are used as tools in a shed are.

There were already hundreds of videos from years ago showing elderly people vandalizing teslas. I’ve was getting a couple a week since -2019

My feed has been showing a lot of videos I saw years ago presented as happening now, sort of a greatest hits remix. When I do see a new video there are definite tells it’s from overseas.

The actual arrests if we omit professional criminals are mostly young people, even if your videos aren’t showing it.

Depending on where you are on the internet I see dozens of parents looking for legal guidance because their daughter or son vandalized a Tesla, I would post a few page fulls of screenshots but it would likely get taken down.

Correct. Not only this but it's a big nothing, except the powerful and elite money behind it. Including websites to join.
We arent exactly loved around the world. (and cant say more in here, except the free ride for them is over)

We may not agree on everything but we do on this for sure.

I'm only referring to recent videos of morons vandalizing Teslas. The videos I've seen are local, on the local News. The majority of vandalizing morons I've seen on video are older. Even the younger appearing are adults, at least chronologically, but definitely not mentally.

The videos are posted on the local News, looking to identify the individuals caught on camera vandalizing. Hopefully they'll all be caught, and spend some quality time behind bars, in addition to having to pay restitution for the damage they caused.

Carbon credits? Maybe subsidies is the wrong word but government intervention.
What carbon credits were available were available to all who qualified. Not just EV makers.

Primarily what Tesla has benefited from is Clean Air Credits in CARB states. Selling these credits have allowed traditional ICE manufacturers to continue doing business in CARB states.

And how do you know this? Some Scientific study perhaps?

Look, vandalism is wrong. As a Tesla owner since Dec 2018, I have numerous detractors, even on this forum. Luckily I have not been vandalized. Personally I respect other's property.
Tesla owner since 2013.

What makes you think EV sales rely on "gov subsidies"?

Before Biden Tesla was selling all the vehicles they could make, without Federal tax credits, competing against other EV makers who were still in their original allocation of 200,000 tax credits.
SO why dont we remove them and see what happens when the public no longer gets $7,500 at the time of purchase?
That would be a prefect experiment.
As it is and as it has been Tesla has been on a streak of weak sales even before the recent terrorism and the taxpayers are footing $7,500 of the purchase price for them.

There are used Teslas out there for much less than $25K. Seen many fairly new Model 3s in the teens. Older Model S, I have seen for $10-13K, mileage dependent.

Saying what you paid for a gas car in 2010 is only marginally relevant, because the market has gone up so much, and used electric cars didn't exist in 2010. Now that the EV market is more established, there are good used choices for the inflation adjusted amount of $14,633.03 that you spent in 2010 in 2010 dollars.

The few I've seen for sale have been ~25k and you.
Plus needing to buy a charger.

At this point they’re the opposite of a tariff instead of just pro EV. The cars have to have a certain level of US parts content. I wonder if that will make them stick around even longer even though the credit was supposed to end.

Great! Do it! But don't bail out GM or Chrysler again.

However, if Tesla sells 400,000 vehicles this quarter and 399,999 the first quarter without a Federal tax credit then you and the media will cry, "sagging sales when Federal 'subsidy' ended!"

The Federal tax credit is conditional upon income. Higher earners do not get. Lower earners must owe $7500 in Federal income tax to receive the full amount, else it simply covers their Federal income tax for that year. The unused amount does not roll over to the next year.

We took delivery of our Tesla two days ago. We don't qualify for the EV tax credit.

I got the tax credit for the 2018 purchase; there was no qualifications. It was a factor in my decision to buy.
The 2nd purchase was the opposite story.
