2024 Frontier 3.8 - New Addition

My only complaint with my 2022 is the harsh ride. They are very stiff and will jolt and jostle your body over bumps. Loaded up, they smooth right out. My later model Ram 1500s spoiled me with respect to ride. Those rode like a big old Buick.
Which trim level do you have?

I drove a ProX as a rental and remember it riding surprisingly well for a truck.

I’m currently in the market for a midsize truck and have narrowed it down to the Frontier Pro4X or one of the Colorado/Canyon trims.

I have a 2012 Pro-X 4WD in Daytona Blue with the 4.0L engine. I use synthetic 10W30 in summer and 5W30 in winter.
My 2012 Xterra same engine, very solid built suv that will go anywhere, I’m looking to swap the M226 locking rear from the Pro4x model but honestly the forestry roads I take for trout fishing don’t require it

You can continuously cold start your vehicle with 5w40 at -30 below F. I'll just stand there and listen / watch

Any BITOG member here with a couple ounces of posts under their belt, already knows 5w40 is fine when the vehicle is warmed up, in a cold spell like 30 below. That's not why I differ.

Pleaase, no mentioning PAO oils that deliver great cold performances in 5w40. PAO is in very little oil brands & viscosities these days. But feel free to mention the 5w40 oil brands you cold start continuously without rattle at -30F. I'll folder them for future use / recommendations

Mine has the LS differential and I have to have it because my fishing and hunting areas often have thick mud (summer) or snow (winter).

S-model crew cab, short bed 4x4 with 16" steel wheels. I also have a set of 17" SV model alloys that I run on it.

I should elaborate in that handling, braking, visibility and the overall driver experience is great. The suspension is tough and will not bottom out. It's just that you get tossed and jostled harshly when on rough pavement.

Another oddity with the 2022+ is dash switchgear placement is all over the place. Not very ergonomic. Not a big deal for me as I'm not a big electronic options guy.

I know this sounds crazy but I’m seeing better MPG with the Purolator Boss filter. I’m seeing this in both my F150 & now the Frontier. The flow rates are very good with this filter and I believe this is contributing. Nissans computer tends to be very generous on its calculations but even at 27 - 28 MPG, pretty impressive. This was 100% highway, on-ramp to exit.

The Pro series has a Bilstein suspension. It can ride a little rough without weight, seems to improve a lot once you pack it up with gear and/or people.
