2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV

I can’t get over the extreme cost of EV’s. I know I’m old and still think there should be $20,000 F150 XL pickup trucks available. 6 cyl, base models. But good god, when we are looking at mortgage payments and homeowners insurance for a less capable vehicle, something is very wrong. Sorry but leather seating does not make up for the 60% premium. Its indefensible
I completely agree but like rodents, many Americans get fat on owing money to banks for their entire lives, they just can not say no, willfully tie themselves to sharing their income each and every week with banks for stuff they shouldn't be buying and money they should not be borrowing. It's REALLY crazy and getting worse ... it will blow up, at sometime the future. Insanity ...

I have a car payment. 0% interest to Ford credit. The money I would have used to buy the car outright is still sitting in my 4.5% Marcus account. No other debt and there won't be unless it is also 0%.

I get that but the masses are not you, meaning even if they get that deal one time, the next time they will still finance.
You dont have any other debt so you're doing well.
There is one thing that some do not know, zero percent interest loans from dealers sometimes can be traded out for a lower purchase price. Also for others, transaction fees OR if they do not have "worthy credit" they will get whacked.

People either don't realize or refuse to care that with current market rates it's around $12k in interest to fully finance a $60k vehicle and take 72 months to pay off. I don't know how anyone could do this without a heavy down payment or a very low promotional financing rate and feel good about the deal.

There's definitely a tradeoff between interest rate and discounts. That's the deal I remember. Either so many thousands off or 0%, 1.9%, or whatever rate may be and it's usually about the same savings in interest as the discount, assuming you fully finance the vehicle with nothing down.

Wow, starting price of $43,000
From what I understand GM stated that previously mentioned low base model priced EVs will not be produced.

Nice looking EV for sure. One thing GM does well.
They just updated the info on the 1LT. 319 miles for $33,600 ($35k with destination). Comes later this fall. The $30k model got canned, but that was going to have a smaller battery & range.

Probably stripped-out enough that most people will avoid it though.

Which GM is the equivalent of the Honda?

I got a little cornfused.

Do the Honda and GM use the same drive components/battery?
Me too.
I think the Honda Prologue is based on the Blazer EV but reading they are nothing alike in interior etc.
SO I dont know, I do know they use the GM platform.
I actually prefer the Honda styling (first glance just now) Maybe I am getting older? Na *LOL*

It's the Prologue and Blazer that are on the same platform. Honda developers said they used all of the GM controls and switchgear, but they were able to change the layout of the interior. According to Honda the controls are all GM controls for the climate and radio, but they moved them to match the layout in other Hondas. I've now seen the Prologue in person and a few Blazers. While I prefer the look of the Prologue, I'd be a buyer of the Blazer first since Chevrolet is a lot closer to me and for me it seems easy to tell it was built first and the Honda was extracted from that.

Blazer EV and Honda Prologue are basically the same. Almost identical dimensions. Equinox EV is a tad smaller. All 3 come from the same factory and use all the same motors and batteries.

Slightly exception with the Blazer EV RWD and Blazer EV SS. They starts to grab bigger Cadillac LYRIC motors and batteries.

I stopped and looked at a Prolouge a few days ago. Bigger than expected. But definitely that boring Honda styling. Interior was better than expected.

Surprisingly to me, the Equinox EV is barely any smaller than the Blazer EV. Only about 1” smaller in length and width. Leaves room for the next-gen Bolt I assume.

The Cadillac OPTIQ will be the sweet spot for me I think, as long as the price stays reasonable. Cadillac’s version of the Equinox EV.

The Honda is probably the smarter buy, due to resale. Just like the Prizms and Corollas that rolled off the Fremont NUMMI lines like hotcakes, the only difference was the badging. The Corolla held its value better, due to perceptions, valid or otherwise.

Both were great cars; I toured NUMMI twice.

That thing on the front looks like someone opened it and forgot to close it.
It's not that noticable on the Black one . I cant tell but Im guessing it has a fake grill which some EV's dont have . I seen this vehicle in the dark and the front and rear lights are pretty cool .
