What are other “plenty?” Ford is not some "diesel name" in Europe. It was always there, but mediocre at best.Plenty of Euros run high SAPS oils with DPFs. Volvo has used A5/B5 oils with DPF for years, so has Ford in Europe. DPFs survive just fine in those.
VW group (Seat/Skoda/VW/Audi/Porsche) has always used Mid-SAPS and Low-SAPS since the introduction of PD engines and later CR engines. BMW has used LL04 since 2004, MB since 2004, PSA and Renault have also used Low-SAPS since 2004, or the introduction of Ultra low sulphur diesel and with that DPF, Toyota and Honda, in their attempts to offer diesels, have also used C3 oils. Also, FIAT and later FCA, then Stellantis, use Low-SAPS oils. So "plenty" comes down to FORD/Volvo/Land Rover.
DPF does not have an unlimited lifespan. It eventually dies bcs. It gets clogged by sulfated ash, or in some cases cleaning can be done. Low-SAPS oils prolong that. So when you say "fine," you are basically saying that Ford/Volvo/Land Rover are OK with more sulfated ash in DPF. It is simple math. The question is: why do they need A5 oil? Full SAPS with lower HTHS instead of C2, C3 or C5 which would prolong DPF lifespan. Like the engine in question, oils are often a band-aid to certain issues.
