Hello all there.

1st proper post.

I have a 2019 Mazda CX-3 2.0 120 with 21000 miles and I have an oil quandery.

Now I have seen the existing "Oil for 2.0 Skyactiv - Battle of the 0w-20" Thread, but that's for US market oils.

I'm in the UK so it needs to be oils available in Euro land.

Oil specs for the car per the manual is API SN and 0w20 or 5W30 ( I hear SP has replaced SN? )

When I got it had fresh Millers XF C5/C6 0w20 API SN

But I changed it to Millers EE performance 5w30 API SN/C3

She is a little rattly in the mornings, more that what I think would be normal, Skyactiv's also take ages to warm up.

My drive to work is a 10 minute 5 mile bimble at no more than 30mph = 10 miles a day

I drive it every other Saturday, 50 mile motorway round trip to my father at 70mph

With usually about 50 to 100 miles of lightly spirited driving as we go out for the afternoon.

So that's 250 miles of bimbling and 300 miles of motorway and mild A road mild thrashing every month

Looking at the specs for the Millers EE, it is a very thick 5w30, so I suspect might be a bit too thickm plus the low pour point makes me suspect is a very very mid range semi synth with a big add pack.

  • AE Viscosity 5w30
  • Specific Gravity (at 15°C) 0.856
  • Kinematic Viscosity (at 100°C, cSt) 12.4
  • Kinematic Viscosity (at 40°C, cSt) 71.9
  • Viscosity Index 172
  • Pour Point (°C) <-30
  • Flash Point (°C) >200
  • Cold Crank Viscosity (cP) 6,600
  • TBN (mg KOH/gm) 6.66
  • HTHS (mPa.s) 3.58
So wanting to swap to a good lower thickness 5w30 or a very good thicker 0w20

My initial research suggests this

TotalEnergies Quartz Ineo Xtra Long Life 0w-20

https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/tot...TYwMTAkbzEzJGcxJHQxNzUzMjk2MjgzJGo1OSRsMCRoMA..

Viscosity grade - SAE J300 0W-20
Kinematic viscosity at 40°C mm²/s ASTM D445 40
Kinematic viscosity at 100°C mm²/s ASTM D445 8.1
Viscosity index - ASTM D2270 183
Pour point °C ASTM D97 -66
OC Flash point °C ASTM D92 230

But I am here to learn more and see suggestions of people who know way more than me,

I've used 0w-20 through 5w-40 and just about every viscosity in between in three different in and out of warranty Skyactivs 2.0/2.5's over the years. I've even used 15w-50 in a pinch short term. Not one of them made a noticeable bit of difference as far as mileage, warmup time, drivability, etc.

I would also disagree with Skyactiv's taking forever to warm up. None of mine ever have or currently do. All of them have a distinct, louder exhaust tone on a cold start, that very quicky goes away as it warms up. Other than that, nada.
