Happy you like the truck! That is all that matters! You can't compare the ride etc to your Ram as they are different vehicles and I don't know what trim level you had. My Ram limited 4x4 5.7 is an incredible riding vehicle (it does have the air suspension feature) and I get 18.5-19 mpg average mixed. Just my personal preference but I would never pick a Ford SUV over the GM models. The GM models look better in and out. I think the Ford looks cheap with the exposed rear wiper and you can see everything underneath from the back. But again personal preferences. Of course the GM's are not without issues motor and transmission wise so you may have gotten the better "long term" vehicle from a reliability point. Good luck with it!

Yeah with the facelift the Tahoe and suburban got a while ago they're essentially one tick lower escalades. When they first came out the suburban was bit more traditional inside but fine by me and I didn't really care about the interior of the escalate. In fact it kind of hate the escalade interior and would be happy with the older suburban interior. I still detest the awful flipper button nonsense for the AC controls and I don't like those bottom mounted vents they just suck.

People hate the shifter buttons in the suburban but they are much better than the fake space robbing shifter the escalade has which doesn't have any mechanical connection to the transmission.

I love the big top mounted AC vents in my old Yukon and Sierra. Getting tons of ice cold air blasting right into my face will never not be wonderful. I barely get any air blowing at my face in the escalade with these awful vents. At least it has remote start so I can let it run for a few minutes as I'm going to the parking lot because it really needs it.

I absolutey HATE that shifter as well and ALL model Cadillac cars and trucks get it. We get them in the shop and its just so difficult to use it always takes me a few seconds to figure out reverse with the extra dumb steps to take. Then pressing a button for park is odd. The entire setup is odd and not intuitive at all - just stupid. This makes me appreciate my simple Ram shift knob LOL!! Hey and the push button switches GM has began integrating in so many models is not my favorite either.

If it was possible to get an expedition el with the 6.8 or 7.3 gas and 6r140 I would be all over it. I love that combination and I would take it over the GM's any day of the week unless GM were to put the 6.6 and 6L90 in which would also be great.

Bring back a 3/4 ton SUV Ford!!!

I'm fortunate to hear your wife is okay. Bad weather can really mess things up.

She was terrified I was going to be mad at her for crashing the truck. In her defense on that, I've wanted a 4th gen ram since I was a teenager when they first came out. But that truck, or any vehicle for that matter means absolutely nothing to me compared to her.

I like the looks of the previous gen Suburban/Yukon, not a fan of the new ones at all. My Ram was just a 2019 1500 Classic Tradesman 4x4 with the HEMI, cloth seats and chrome bumpers, very basic which was what I wanted. Absolutely loved that truck.

When I was looking even higher mileage GM Twins were $30k+, this one popped up for $25k 10 minutes away, had religious 5k mile oil changes and all recommended maintenance at the dealer. Only 2 warranty claims, APIM and rear blower motor according to carfax and my Ford tech friend. On top of the condition it is in, I just couldn't pass it up.

I’m fine with the AT buttons - don’t they put a Bose subwoofer under the console - so shifter might clash … tons of space in those consoles and cubby holes all over the place …

 

[OVERKILL]

Wife was alone, she went out for groceries and a break from the kids. When she left it was starting to snow but the roads were clear, within the hour and a half 2 hours she was gone it got real bad. Hit black ice and slid into a pole at the end of our road going 35-40 prior to hitting a snowdrift and the grass..... No airbags went off, she hit her head pretty good giving her a concussion and broke a bone in her hand. Truck had Yokohama Geolandar G015's with 8 or 9/32 tread left.

When I got to her (literally a 45 second drive) I saw other cars try to turn and slide right past the road as well. Truck drove back home under its own power though. Telephone pole was unscathed...

That was one of the big upgrades on the DT over the DS, the crash test performance.
