I'm not a big fan of it on my 2L turbo jeep but its pretty fast to press the button.. occasionally its useful.

on the jeep you can also modulate the brake pedal correctly and it wont engage.

On that escape, I believe you can probably use forescan to disable the battery control module. if it can’t detect the battery condition, it will deac start/stop.

this reminds me of the endless 'day time running lights' discussions, most adapt ........ eventually.
depends on the degree of cro-magnon dna remaining

Get an obd2 module for that car that is compatible for FORscan.

The one I have has a metal switch on it to switch the modes, this is the one you want.

I have a dirt cheap windows 10 laptop for running FORscan and it has saved me tons of money.

I'm sure there is a setting to shut it off, and there are forums online to ask.

I have a 16 Escape without start stop, and I get about 26mpg with the 2.5L base engine.

FORscan is almost essential for these cars, as there is a lot of computer changes to service the car.

I have had to reset the battery control module when I replaced the battery, and there is a service mode to re-align the wipers, that normally only a dealer can do for $$$.

I also programmed a second key fob for the car.

There actually isn’t a setting to deac stop/start. Disabling the battery control module is most common, but I hate to recommend it.

if ford was really thinking, they could code it to remember which transmission mode you were in last, instead of re-buttoning every time we start. I personally like the low-rpm schedule for eco mode, it mates real well with the 2.7.

Not sure if the Escape you can, but I’ve heard of other Ford models you stick a trailer brake light tester in the plug and it thinks there’s a trailer so it doesn’t shut off.

I would never be able to stand not turning it off. It gets too hot without the A/C compressor running. We need max cooling in AZ. I drove a Malibu with this in January 2018, it was too hot even then!
